Customer Review: Faulty wiring...

I ordered one of these book lights and it seemed to work really well right out of the box, however the very next day one of the bulbs would not turn on at all. So I thought maybe it needed new batteries, but after replacing the batteries there was no change. Then the light stopped working altogether. It now turns on only intermittently and flickers (still only one bulb). Unfortunately I threw away the package immediately after receiving it, don't make that mistake, and now I cannot return it without the package. Also I purchased it from an outside seller that was fulfilled through amazon, so I don't even have the option to exchange it. That is poor customer service on Amazon's part.
Don't waste your money on this overpriced book light. The quality of the workmanship is poor.

Most of the time I have this clipped on top of a book holder: Fellowes Booklift Copyholder,Platinum (21100). It works pretty well, although I would prefer it to be a little bit wider so that the pages could be illuminated more evenly. I usually just move it around as needed and it's not a big deal since it is so flexible. It has two settings so you can adjust the brightness. The clip is sturdy and seems like it will last. After having it for a while, I have discovered many other uses for it (dropped an earring? looking for a cable behind your computer? can't find something under the sink? etc...). You can clip it to pretty much anything where you need a little light temporarily.Customer Review: A must have for readers.

My previous experience with this kind of device was with those "cheapo" lights you find in pharmacies or department stores. Reading with those is really difficult and tiring. So I was a little skeptic about the whole kind of devices and what this particular light could bring.
To my amaze, this is a huge difference over the cheap ones. The Mighty Bright is really usable, bright and with an excellent coverage. I even think this is definitely more usable than a floor lamp, in terms of flexibility and brightness.
As a final note: You don't need to worry about its base or its weight. You won't even notice it while reading. Also, it serves nicely to use the light in a "stand up" position, to read or whatever other use you need it for.

I received one of these (the black version) a few days ago and my verdict is that I am likely to use it when reading books at night.
Brief overview:
- 2 super-bright LED's with lenses
- light has more blue and very little red, or yellow (think of a steady neon light)
- uses 3 (THREE) AAA batteries
- 40-hour battery life (claim is made on the package, not verified by me)
- power supply not provided
- relatively long, flexible arm
- can turn on 1 or 2 LED's
- solid build
- a bit heavy but had no problem using it with a paperback
I will definitely use this lamp when reading books at night. I doubt I will ever use it as a flashlight or a work light unless I had no other choice.

I got two booklights for Christmas, and I prefer this one to the Great Point one. I like the feature on this one that allows me to select brightness (2 LEDs on vs. 1 LED on). The other light I got is all or nothing (2 LEDs or it's off). I use the light to read in my 3-yr-old's bedroom while she is falling asleep, so I'd rather deal with a light that is not quite as bright so that it disturbs her less, and this one gives me that option. As long as I am pointing it at the area of the page that I'm reading, the 1 LED gives me plenty of light. And the flexibility of this light is incredible, making it easy to adjust which part of the page I'm pointing it towards. The great point light also has a flexible neck, but it is not as flexible as this one is.
