Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Light (Silver)Customer Review: Provides more than enough bright lighting when reading a Kindle 3 Summary: 5 Stars
This XtraFlex2 is an awesome light for use with the kindle 3. It provides ample lighting when reading in dimly lit to pitch black rooms. Real briefly i'll go over the PROS and CONS (for me)
PROS: 2 light settings, uses 3 AAA batteries (easily replaced), VERY bright - including lower light setting, VERY smooth adjustment of the "neck" of the light, handy clip which is HUGE, but can clip to a lot of things (i.e. camping chairs, headboard of bed) and has a STABLE BASE for which it can sit independently on the bed, on your stomach when laying in bed, on the nightstand when laying in bed,
CONS: It IS pretty large in relation to the kindle 3 (especially the clip) though it does have foam on the clip so it doesn't scratch. I place it on the kindle if needed, though prefer to clip it onto myself or on an object near where I'm reading OR just let it sit on my bed when reading at night.
I really wish that this bright of a light with the adjustable neck could be placed on that kindle lighted cover, however that's just wishful thinking. I JUST purchased the orange lighted leather kindle cover which I'll make a review for once I use it. I definitely like the xtraflex2 and will continue to use it/keep it, but I DO also like to spoil myself with accessories (or MAN-cessories) - especially for my electronics, so I'm splurging on the lighted cover.
Despite the CONS, I still give this light 5 stars because it's awesome, functional, and gets the job done WELL
Customer Review: Best Reading Light I've Ever Owned Summary: 5 Stars
The Mighty Bright is far and away the best reading light I have ever owned. All of the other ones I have tried have failed me in one way or another. Some weren't bright enough, some had an awful battery life, most never seem to position the way I want, and others just didn't clip to the book securely. This light is the best I've found at all four!
* The selectable dual-LED light is fantastic. Personally, I find that just using one light is more than enough for me, but those wanting even more light can turn them both on. The LEDs provide a clean, even source of light without a lot of glare.
* I bought mine at the end of August for use with the new Kindle. I have not had to change the 3 AAA batteries yet and I use mine for at least 30-60 minutes a night. Can't beat the battery life!
* I am able to position the light's adjustable neck in any position I'd like. I move around a lot when I read and find that sometimes I like the light directly overhead, sometimes to the side, and sometimes closer than others. The neck is easily moved to all of these positions AND STAYS THERE.
* If there was on negative to the light, the battery compartment is larger than most. It does make for a sturdier clip, though, and I have attached mine to a hardcover book, mass market paperback, and my Kindle case. The clip is too large to attach to a standard 3rd generation Kindle without a case.
Customer Review: Best book light for inveterate night owl readers Summary: 5 Stars
The XtraFlex2 LED book light is light years (no pun intended) better than the old itty-bitty-type lights that used incandescent bulbs.
The XtraFlex2 gets great battery life, unlike the the itty-bittys, which I found went through batteries like crazy. Of course, the LED "bulbs" don't burn out like the itty-bitty blubs (and the XtraFlex2 doesn't heat up from its bulbs, either). The XtraFlex2's integrated battery pack is also great; no getting tangled up in a cord while you're in bed.
I stumbled on the XtraFlex2 at my local Borders. They had a bunch of them in a display when the final Harry Potter book was published (presumably figuring that a lot of kids, little and big, were going to be doing a lot of reading in bed...). The leftovers were sold at half price, a real bargain. I bought one, tried it out, loved it, and went back to buy several more for use as gifts (and spares).
Available in colors other than silver; Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Light - Black, Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Book/Craft/Clip-On Light, Green, Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Book/Craft/Clip-On Light, Pink, Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Dual Book/Craft/Clip-On Light, Purple, and Xtra Flex 2 LED Book Light, Blue.
Customer Review: Good,.... BUT,... Summary: 3 Stars
This was my original review on the XtraFlex 2 back in April 2010:
"Really. If you don't have one of these yet, and you do read books,... do yourself a favor, get one or two!"
This is my new review Nov 2010:
I taught the XtraFlex2 was really good (rated it 5 stars in April 2010) till I got Brinkmann 809-1033-1 3 LED Headlamp With Case. Now I think they the MightyBright XtraFlex 2 is good,... but the Brinkman headlamps are MUCH better. The XtraFlex2 I had to re-attach every few pages or so. I had to attach it either to the right or the left of the book, depending if I'm over the half of the book or not, and almost every page I find my self constantly trying to find the most ideal position for best lighting. This problem is solved with the headlamp. You can just skip pages without anything attach to the book! Another point for the headlamp is that the batteries last much longer. The XtraFlex2 (AAA) batteries needs to be replaced faster. Not a big deal, especially if you use rechargeable batteries... but the less you have to worry with batteries the better. I liked the brightness of the 2 led lamps of the XtraFlex2,.... But the headlamp wins again, since it has 3 leds, providing even more brightness!!! And the headlamp cost a few bucks less!!!
Customer Review: They weren't kidding to call it "Mighty Bright"! Summary: 5 Stars
Have had my Mighty Bright for a few days now and I love it.
I'm not accustomed to having a clip-on book light - this is my first.
It came with 3 triple A batteries which were not flat, and once installed the lamp emits a near blinding amount of light to look into.
It has two bulbs which are very bright when used together, but I normally use just the one to augment the room lighting where I'm at. My family appreciates it as well. When we gather to watch a movie, and I decide I'd rather read a book while with them, I no longer need to ruin their movie-watching experience by turning on a light. I just snap on the Mighty Bright and no-one is the least bothered.
At my age I've noticed an increase in eye strain after reading for only short periods of time. They'll get watery, and impossible to focus. I was surprised to find how having a better light source really helped alleviate that; I can read for hours now without any issues.
It seems to be built sturdy, and I expect that with proper care it should last me quite some time; and coming from a retired mechanic who knows the difference, that is saying a lot.
If you're an avid reader whose eyes need that extra added lighting without having to change your household bulbs to hi-watts; try this, I think you'll agree it's worth the money.
