Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Clip-On Light (Black, Kindle Version)Customer Review: Mighty little light Summary: 5 Stars
I read a lot, often in unusually/unconventional places and getting an adequate amount of light for me is always an issue. Mighty Bright book light resolves most of my problems, as it is both a convenient an inexpensive way of obtaining more light wherever I end up reading. The two LED light bulbs provide enough light and are quite adequate for even the darkest room. The switch button is conveniently located at the top of the light where it can be easily reached. It can be turned on by a slightest touch, which means that you don't have to readjust the book light's position each time you turn it on or off. One can use the same switch to switch between using one or both of the light bulbs. The neck for this book light is sturdy yet very flexible and adjustable. It can be positioned in a virtually infinite number of configurations. The base at a first sight seemed bulky, but after using it for a while it turned out to be unobtrusive. It uses three AAA batteries and because of its size it can double as a stand when one is positioning the light on a flat surface. The clip can be used to attach this light to a book of almost any size. Overall, this is a vary useful and well designed product. It sets a standard for book lights.
Customer Review: Good for books, better for Kindle Summary: 3 Stars
I've read a lot of reviews here that state this light does not work well with the Kindle, but I find it works great with my Kindle. I keep the Kindle in it's cover, fold the cover back and clip my light to the cover. And I don't have any problem at all adjusting the light so there's no glare.
When reading a book larger than the standard paperback, however, it seems to be very hard to position the light in such a way as to illuminate both pages completely. I find myself adjusting it often, sometimes even moving it with every page I read. It would be perfect it the LEDs swiveled and I could point one toward each page.
The neck of my light is also starting to get a little loose and it droops a bit as I'm reading. If it doesn't get any looser than it is now, I'll be ok with it.
The light clip is a little bulky though. I'm fine with the bulk of the battery compartment, but the clip itself is hard to position in smaller, lightweight books.
Overall, it's a convenient book light with great quality light and it's nice that it has two brightness settings. With a few design changes though, it could be so much better.
Customer Review: A great little light that surpassed my expectations Summary: 5 Stars
The Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Clip-On Light not only serves the needs of the Kindle user well, but it can be used anywhere where a small, flexible light is needed. This past week, in cleaning my gas cook-top, a small piece of wet paper towel became lodged in an area beneath the grate and beyond where I could see it. At first I tried using a small Magna Lite, but it was still too large and cumbersome to get the proper angle of light I needed. Then, I spied my MBFX2 and the flexibility and brightness made it ideal to see and finally remove the offending fire hazard. It is also perfect for lighting my Kindle screen and I love that it has 2 levels of brightness, as sometimes the lower light level is all you need when there is enough ambient light or if you're reading in bed and eventually want to nod off. In additon, the flexible neck is wonderful for angling the light to eliminate glare and keep the lighted area contained to prevent complaints from anyone sleeping next to you. I'm planning on purchasing another MBFX2 for a friend of mine who's had to settle for using a mini miner-type headlamp when she reads in bed at night. She's going to love it!
Customer Review: Best option for KINDLE so far Summary: 4 Stars
The Kindle is very easy to read in normal light, no back light needed. I like having the mighty bright as a back up however (for example, the overhead light didn't work on my last flight home and I couldn't read- course I couldn't have read my usual paperback either.) I agree with the reviewers who complain about glare. Good thing the mighty bright is easy to adjust to get to just the right position, but until you find it, glare is annoying.
I also like using the mighty light while reading in bed. Even when my husband is out of town and I don't have to worry about keeping him up, the mighty bright is better than an overhead light because it focuses on the page while my eyes remain in the relaxing dark. That's perfect when I just want to read a little until I get sleepy. Some theories are that light shining overhead is more likely to keep you awake, as compared to light focused just on the object being viewed... Just a thought.
Seems to have a long battery life and it is easy to carry extra batteries. The item also seems sturdy and packs easily. It is not perfect, but I'm happy with purchase.
Customer Review: The best light of this type I've used Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the Mighty Bright after seeing it linked to a Kindle ad. The Kindle is still way too expensive for me, but the light is very nice. I use it to illuminate my keyboard during early morning or night sessions. I use a Wacom pen tablet beneath the monitor with a compact keyboard off to the side in the darkness. I had an illuminated keyboard that became disfunctional after a year, so looked for a less expensive alternative to use with my un-lit compact keyboard. I also use it to clamp onto a book for night reading in bed, and to replace the candles I've used for journal writing at the kitchen counter during the wee hours. It preserves the cozy atmosphere I enjoy for those introspective activities. The batteries are holding up fine after a month of regular use. I find the difference between the high and low settings slight, so use low most of the time.
I've used USB flex-stem lights that plug into the back of the compact keyboard, but the two I tried began to flicker and died within 2 months, and they didn't have the light coverage or portability of the Mighty Bright. I'll be getting one or two more, I'm sure.
