Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Clip-On Light (Black, Kindle Version)Customer Review: Attaches Too Insecurely Summary: 3 Stars
The lite is bright, able to read usually on the low setting. I use a Belkin removable cover for my KINDLE2, so the light has to clip just to the KINDLE2. It tends to slip some, despite the rubber-like clip surfaces. That's not too much of a problem for careful use. The problem arises when I sometimes fall asleep while reading and the light gets easily knocked off when the KINDLE hits my bed covers from the very short fall. The KINDLE survives just fine, but the light sometimes then falls to the floor, spilling the batteries and battery cover. After a couple of these incidents, the battery cover tabs are broken off, the batter door is taped shut, and I get a little intermittent action from the light. Love the light source, have no problem that I can't overcome with reflection, limits the light that could otherwise bother my wife or baby while trying to sleep, but I would vote for a better connection if it could be made and not endanger breaking the KINDLE. I see the price on this has jumped from the $12.95 I bought it for 1 month ago to $19.95. That's too bad, for having to replace it at soon makes it at least a $30 + cost for a short life! Of course, I could give up reading while in bed or use a regular light, but the KINDLE is all about improving one's life and moving forward.
Customer Review: A Kindle Sometimes Needs Light, This is the Best Summary: 5 Stars
Here is yet another summary of this product's practical features.
For a Kindle with its designed cover or a hardback book this is an excellent product. The weight and size of the clip used to hold the batteries and the device to the book will not work with paperback books. Do not even think about it.
Kindle's cover is not very well designed. If you add a couple of Velcro strips to the right side of the Kindle at slightly below center and at the bottom right corner, the problems with it sliding out of its cover and easy access to its switches is solved.
Adding the weight of a Mighty Bright to a Kindle cover without Velcro strips is not something I have tried, but cannot imagine working well.
The light head of the Mighty Bright is very bright and the neck it is connected to is extremely flexible, allowing a lighting to screen without glare reading experience.
While the three triple A batteries add a lot of relative weight to the clip of this device, they provide a long life, that is inexpensive and convenient to replace.
If you want the convenience to read anywhere you need light. In my opinion if a Kindle needs light this is one of the best devices to get it there.

Customer Review: Aptly named, good reading light Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this light for my daughter, who I frequently catch with a book and a flashlight under her covers after bed time. I tried it out myself (in the dark) and can report that it has a lot of good attributes that are perfect for light-assisted reading.
- It is light-weight, but does not feel fragile.
- The batteries are common and are easy to change.
- The spring clamp holds tightly to a group of pages. It doesn't fall off or slide when turned upside-down.
- The wire neck also holds its position perfectly. It's very easy to adjust and stays precisely in place.
- The two-setting light is bright (on both settings) and a clean white color.
My two suggestions for improvement would be, first, to have a third LED in the head that is not a super LED and would put out less light. My eyes can adapt very well to the dark and both of the current settings are more than enough. And second, to increase the lever portion of the spring clamp a little so it is easier to de-clamp from the book. It has an odd feel since the lever end is almost right over the hinge/fulcrum.
Neither of these things are enough to detract from the fact that this is an excellent product and deserves a five star rating.
Customer Review: Good Lighting - Bad Construction Summary: 2 Stars
I purchased this light to replace an older LED book light that was broken. After about 4 years of use, the old light began to change between on/off/dim due to (I'm guessing) the wiring coming loose. I had high hopes for this light due to the good reviews. Unfortunately, the first time I used this light I experienced the same dimming/on/off effect. It happens whenever I reposition the light. I'm guessing that the wiring connection on either the LED bulb or the battery is not real solid. This drives me nuts. Every time I turn a page I have to fiddle with the light. Not fun.
The size of the light beam of the one LED is good for small books. I'll sometimes read large computer programming books and the light spread isn't large enough to cover both sides of the book. This leads me to fiddle with the light even more, which leads to frustration due to the dimming effect. I prefer my older 3 LED light. I had more light output and the spread was larger. This was in part due to the fact that it had a telescoping head, so I sat higher up from the pages than the Mighty Bright light does.
I'd probably recommend this light if it wasn't for the dimming/on/off problem. I'll keep looking for a better constructed light.
Customer Review: The Mighty Bright Is A Mighty Fine Light Summary: 5 Stars
I have tried a significant number of book lights over years, and each and every one has had major problems. Either they were awkward to use, too dim, focused the light in the wrong location, were too heavy, drained the batteries too quickly, or had too much glare. The MIGHTY BRIGHT XTRAFLEX2 CLIP-ON LIGHT solves all these problems. My husband purchased the MIGHTY BRIGHT specifically for me to use with my Kindle 2, but it also works beautifully on paperback and hardback books. The MIGHTY BRIGHT XTRAFLEX2 CLIP-ON LIGHT uses regular AAA batteries, has a nice wide clip that stays put, is light weight, and has two settings brightness settings. I find the low setting to be more than sufficient for standard reading. The dual LED lights wash the entire page in a diffuse light, rather "spot-lighting" a small portion as so many other book lights do. It is gentle on the eyes, easy to use, and the flexible neck can be bent into any position that works for you. Additionally, the AAA batteries seem to last quite a long time. If you are looking for a light that lets you read in bed without disrupting your spouse or significant other, then the MIGHTY BRIGHT XTRAFLEX2 CLIP-ON LIGHT is the book light for you. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
