Customer Review: The Best Little Book Light!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this book light so that I wouldn't have to turn on the light at the side of my bed at night or if I'm sitting in the lounge chair and I don't want all the bright lights on while just reading. Also, I didn't really want to disturb anyone else in the house just because I was reading.

Well, let me tell you that I was AMAZED at how bright this little light is and you can actually turn it down a notch. There are two settings and even on the highest amount of light, you will not wake up anyone that is asleep or watching television next to you.

Plus, the light has a beautiful light blue tinge to it and it makes reading very easy on the eyes. It's hard not to love.

Now there are two options when it comes to powering the light. You can buy the adapter and plug it into the wall or you can use three AAA batteries. Which have seemed to last forever by the way. But neither options are included. You have to buy one or the other. (Or both...depending on what your needs are)

This light has a clip so you can either clip it to your book or you can have it free standing. It works perfect with the KINDLE, which is what I bought it for, but it also works wonderful for a plain old regular book that you might be reading as well.

This cute, little, bendable light comes in assorted colors so if you'd like something other than black please know that that is another option. I believe you could even find one in your favorite color. They have Blue, Pruple, Black, Pink, Silver, Lime, Aqua blue, yellow and a few other colors that I know I'm leaving out...like red. : ) So for the fashionistas like me, practical and fashionable all in one swoop!

Quite honestly I haven't found a better book light and the price is outstanding. So it's basically a win-win situation no matter which way you look at it. Hope that helps if your contemplating the purchase. I think it's well worth every penny!

Customer Review: Really great, highly recommended
Summary: 5 Stars

I read a fair amount in situations where I do not want a "room light" to be on. This might be because I am laying in bed while my partner is sound asleep, or sometimes it's just nice to curl up in a room without all the lights blaring (and wasting electricity). It's nice to have a candle or two burning, curled up snugly, with just the booklight to light my reading. My eyesight is very important to me, so I want to make sure in these situations that I have as little eyestrain as possible.

That's where the Mighty Bright LED Book Light comes in. It has a pair of LED lights and you can set it to have one or both of them on. The light is VERY bright and is perfect for nighttime reading. The clip part of it is nice and strong, but there's padding on the inside of both halves of the clip so it's gentle on whatever you clip it to.

I'm very impressed with the neck area. It is thin, very flexible, and holds its position at exactly the twist and angle you put it at. You can pretty much angle it any way you imagine. This means you can line it up perfectly to be out of your field of vision. For the Kindle, you can aim it so there's no glare at all from the screen.

I was a little nervous at first about clipping it onto the Kindle itself, but I found if you clip it the top over where the "scroll bar" is that it pressed evenly on the plastic case without getting in the way of any of the buttons.

The LED lights themselves are pretty much infinitely good, and it takes THREE AAA batteries (not two as some other reviews state). They last about 40 hours, which is quite a fair amount for a battery powered flashlight.

I've tried a bunch of lights in the past, and this is really an impressive improvement over previous versions. Because they're LEDs, they don't get hot! Always an important thing for something you're holding near your face and hands.

Highly recommended!

Customer Review: Fresh Batteries are the key!!!
Summary: 4 Stars

I receved this from my wife as a gift and tried it tonight for the first time in our bedroom with the lights completely off. My first impressions were extremely negative because I couldn't see anything and I could feel my eyes straining to read some PDF's I had on my DX. I like the fonts more on the smaller side, but I had to almost increase the font size to the max just to see. The light seemed terribly dim with both LEDs on! My wife walks in the room and pulled out her light wedge and it almost lit up the entire room. Then it occurred to me that I probably had a dud battery installed. I had two rechargeables that were fresh and one AAA I pulled from the family junk drawer where all the normal battery casualties go. I pulled one of the AAA's from her light wedge and replaced the dud and hit the switch. WOW! Blinding light!! This thing is ridiculously bright. I took it into our hallway that is pitch black and it lit the entire 33ft easily with one light on. For the brightness alone it would be 5 stars. I could now lower my font size back to the little fonts I like and still easily see.

Now for the bad... initially thought this was supposed to be designed for the kindle, but it clearly is not as it definitely a bit bulky on the clip (obviously due to the batteries), but that comment is less about the weight and more about the width it takes up trying to clip it on the dx outer perimeter. FOr me the upper right corner is the most convenient for keeping it out the way. The beam of light glare does occur, but I found an optimal position for the light by lowering it about an inch above and parallel with the amazonkindle logo at the top and tilting it slightly back toward the logo. It illuminates the whole screen, gets rid of the beam, and keeps the light head out of view.

awesome light would recommend it, but definitely use fresh batteries.

Customer Review: A very good diaper changing table light
Summary: 5 Stars

This little light works very well as a diaper changing table light, mostly because you can control where the light goes and how much light there is:

+ The 7" long neck is very twist-able and bend-able, allowing you to point the light where you want it to go.

+ The light has an effective lens that focuses most of the light in a defined area - there's not as much light leaking to the sides as on many other lights. So by turning the head, you can keep the light from going where you don't want it to (such as, in the baby's face).

+ And of course there are two brightness levels for the light.

The clamp isn't super-forceful - it is designed to clamp onto books or a Kindle, after all - so it works best on something that's 3/4" or less thick, but with 3/4" or more of depth to grab on to.

Or, if you have a place to set it, it will (as shown in the picture) sit flat on its bottom, and it's fairly stable.

The only thing I don't care for is the cover on the battery compartment - it keeps coming off when I use the clamp.

The LED light draws little power, so the batteries last a long time.

Most of the weight is in the battery compartment, so that helps keep it stable even when clamped to things that aren't all that stable - like the edge of a changing table pad.

Plus it's a handy light to have around when you need a light - well worth the price.

If you expect to have it in one spot nearly all of the time, consider getting Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Book Light with Adaptor - Black, if you don't want to bother with batteries.

Rechargeable batteries work just fine in this, and of course are the best way to go.

Customer Review: Almost ideal
Summary: 4 Stars

THE GOOD

1. Excellent gooseneck. It stays where you put it, and it has a solid feel despite its small diameter. This constitutes a huge improvement over other reading lights I've tried.

2. The dimmer switch is a nice touch. Press it once, it's really bright. Press it again, it's bright. Press it again, it's off. I have found that the dimmer setting is ample for my eyes (for now), and it helps with marital harmony while extending the battery life.

3. The diffuse light source keeps glare to a minimum. It takes some positioning to get rid of the glare, but see #1 -- at least this light makes it possible to do so.

4. The power source -- some reading lights use very expensive button batteries. Not this one -- nice, cheap, easy-to-find AAAs.

THE NOT SO GOOD

1. The overall thickness of the base seems excessive. There's not much they can do about the thickness of the battery pack, but that thickness is more than doubled by the size and shape of the clip. This makes things a little awkward when using the light in conjunction with the Kindle cover I bought (the pebbled black leather one). If you try to clip the light behind the Kindle (clip it onto the cover), it makes the Kindle protrude quite a bit.

2. I have solved the first problem by clipping the light onto the spine of the cover. And that would just about be perfect if the clip were a little narrower -- so that I could close the cover with the light in place. But the clip is a little wider than the spine, so that doesn't quite work.

THE BOTTOM LINE

The mild criticisms do not stand in the way of calling this a really good product. I use it and I like it, and I recommend it.
