This unit had an attractive price, so against the opinions of several CBers I bought it. It would not work right out of the box, It would power up, BUT NO TRANSMIT OR RECEIVE capabililities. Rather than go throught the hassle of sending it back I took it to a very reputable CB repair shop with over 40 years of CB experience. After running up a $40 bill, was told that a major power component was non functional right from the factory. So much for Midland Quality Control. I placed the Midland 5001Z in the trash where it belongs and ended up buying a Cobra CB which I was told by friends to do in the first place, Midland had this one chance to impress me right out of the box and failed miserably. Midland....YOU STINK.

The Midland 5001z is the classic silver face 40 Channel CB loaded with features. The 5001z features the Midland X-TRA TALK Mic Gain Control to boost transmit audio sensitivity for increased voice clarity. The 4 Watt Output power gives the maximum power allowed for maxim communication range and features a RF Gain Control to adjust reception sensitivity range for clear communication. Additional features include an Instant Channel 9 button gives immediate access to the emergency channel, Switchable Noise Blanker circuit for increased noise reduction, Full Size Microphone with locking connector.
