Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Microsoft Wheel Optical MouseCustomer Review: Not the greatest but not the worst. Summary: 4 Stars
I'm on my 2nd Microsoft Wheel Optical Mouse and heading for my third. I like the MS mice and have been buying them for years. The price is right and I've always liked the heft and feel. I had a hard debate between three and four stars. New these things rock. Once they get a couple years on them they tend to start double clicking when you only wanted to single click (disasterous in this virus heavy world) and the scroll wheel tends to roll by itself randomly up or down. That being said, I've already added it to my wishlist and will more than likely be buying my third within the week.
Customer Review: Best mouse for the price, end of story. Summary: 5 Stars
Don't waste your money on a cheap mouse. This mouse is ultra-reliable, works with everything, no drivers needed. As a computer tech I need reliable equipment which will always work, no matter what the system is. Nothing fancy here, two buttons (three if you count the scroll-wheel), smooth scroll wheel, optical tracking. You get a little more functionality and customzation by loading the drivers, but this works perfectly on XP and newer (possibly earlier) Mac OS9, OSX 10.0 and newer, Linux, and lots more. One of the few mice in my experience that works perfectly as USB or PS/2
Customer Review: Excellent Mouse! Summary: 5 Stars
The Microsoft Wheel Optical Mouse is an excellent mouse! I have a white one that I have had for 4 years. It is just now wearing out where I need to buy a new one. It came with my computer. I love it! It is very comfortable for my hand and it never needs to be cleaned! One thing that I have noticed that you need to watch out for is the little black pads on the bottom will come off over time. Usually they can be easily put back on and it would not harm the mouse at all to put a drop of glue on one of the pads to hold it on. I love my Microsoft Wheel Optical Mouse!
Customer Review: Defective mouse - two in a row Summary: 1 Stars
I ordered this mouse from Amazon for home, and the mouse rocked while clicking. The plastic appeared warped on the bottom - it was visible when you were looking for it. I sent it back to Amazon and ordered another. Exact same problem.
I've been using the same mouse at work for a few years and its bottom is perfectly flat. And I've been using Microsoft mouses for 10+ years. I absolutely love them - they are very comfortable for long periods of use. But now I'm concerned they're having manufacturing problems and am looking at other brands.
Customer Review: About as basic as you can get Summary: 3 Stars
This is the new century's version of a good, basic functioning mouse. The two buttons and scroll wheel/button combo is pretty standard for computing these days, and I personally prefer the symmetrical MS design over their "Explorer" mice that look like they were molded from piece of clay that a right-handed person squeezed with his/her thumb.
An alternative, for a little bit more, is the Microsoft Comfort Mouse 3000, which adds a fourth, thumb button. Included with each is the IntelliPoint software which adds functionality and customization.
