My daughter moved to England for a few months, and we're keeping two of her dogs for her. She told us about Skype, so my wife and I each bought one of these combination mic/web cameras for our desktop computers. We installed the software quickly, plugged the units into our USB ports, and viola! Instantly we were sharing an online video call with my daughter so she could see and "talk to" her two Shih-Tsu pups! Is it "high definition" quality. Not even close. Is it perfectly adequate for video phone calls. Absolutely. Great little product. Easy to use, excellent sound quality, and we're thrilled with ours. I just bought this camera for my mom and I to be able to communicate via Skype. I installed it with no problem on my Dell PC with no problems, but when I installed my moms on her laptop for her the microphone that is built in did not work. I am slightly baffled about this, and can't find any information on how to troubleshoot this problem. The video quality is good and the sound works well overall. The price was good for the quality of the camera. I would recommend this camera for anyone who wants a camera just for casual chatting back and forth between a friend or a loved one. If you are looking for something more high tech I wouldn't use this camera.Customer Review: This is a great webcam

I have this webcam and it's great, the only downside is the lighting it's too dark but with a lamp it's perfect. If you move fast it doesn't blur,if you know nothing of technology it's easy to use, the sound is really good and the price is perfect. I didn't want to spend to much money but I wanted a good camera,I did all searches and read all the reviews and this was the perfect 1 for the price. But don't get the microsoftVX3000, just because it's more money doesn't always mean it's better it's the same thing as this one but if you want a great camera and the price doesn't matter then go with the Microsoft VX6000. PROS: This was my first webcam purchase and I couldn't be more satisfied. The intent was to use this for video chats to family members. I originally purchased this product on sale so this was practically a steal compare to other web cams. The installation and setup was easy. I had more difficulty getting my non-techie family to set up IM, but it was worth it. They can see and hear their grandson/nephew quite well. They are happy with the quality on the back end and thinking of purchasing one for each of their families.
CONS: Their is no zoom control as with some higher priced models, but this is an excellent choice for the price.

This camera is similar to most webcams I have dealt with. It has a digital delay, you can see the jumps - it is not a smooth video transmission. It can record dark if you don't know how to do lighting. I am able to deal with these flaws, but other people expect it to show "real time" and "real life" - it is simple technology with simple features. My aunt installed it fine, but it wants to install Windows Messenger and she had problems with that. It was Christmas Day so maybe something was wrong with the website. I paid $22 at Amazon. You get what you paid for. It is simple and works for casual purpose. Don't expect perfection for $22.
