Customer Review: Great keyboard!
Summary: 5 Stars

I just bought this keyboard this weekend from Staples and it is awesome. The keys are very quiet compared to other keyboards and it has several features that are easy to set up and use. For example, it has a zoom bar on the left hand side so you can zoom in/out of pictures you are viewing. It can also be used when you are on a webpage to increase or decrease the font size. So if you are viewing a sight with the text too small, just push it forward a few times- the text gets bigger! It has favorite shortcut keys, media player buttons, and shortcuts for my docs, my pics, my music, mail, the internet, and your messenger choice. It also has a shortcut for the calculator, logoff, and sleep mode. It doesn't mtake much to open those programs up but it's just neat that you can press one button and it pops up just like that.

This keyboard is also good for beginners or older generations that didn't grow up with computers. It has helpful words under some of the keys that give you a hint of how to cut/copy/paste text and also how to bold, underline, and italicize your text.

The keyboard is definitely worth the money and as far as I've seen Amazon has the best price- and you come on, you can't beat the free shipping. Everyone should really be replacing their keyboard at least every year (a personal keyboard has more bad bacteria on it than what's on your toilet!) and this one is a great choice. I highly recommend it!

Customer Review: OS X experience, vision impairment, and USB absence
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this keyboard under unusual time constraints for my mother's Mac Mini. Yes, Microsoft does supply a quite good driver driver for OS X that enables all the features.

As an OS X keyboard it's not bad if one remembers to turn on F-Lock (OS X makes good use of function keys but XP does not, which is ironic if one knows the history of the function key). There's no 'eject' button but it's easy to remap the 'Messenger' key to be an eject button. It has a sleep and logout button that are very handy; note that the the modern Mac keyboard lacks both of these.

The main problem for an elderly or visually impaired person, however, is that the black keyboard with white lettering just doesn't work as well as a white keyboard with large dark lettering. It's also very complex and daunting with lots of special functions of dubious utility, and some of the most useful buttons (sleep, log out) are tiny. The numbered favorites occupies a lot of wasted space and are pretty worthless for most of us.

Every user will notice the lack of USB ports. You can really never have enough USB ports, and most keyboards now include two ports suitable for use with a mouse or a memory stick (thumb drive).

Overall, it's not a bad keyboard for many OS X or XP users, though it is a bit whizzy and silly. It's not a good choice for the elderly or visually impaired and they ought to have included the USB ports.

Customer Review: Great!

Bought this keyboard a couple weeks back, and so far I have to say that I cannot find one thing that I'd change about it. Standard keys that all KBs should have now, but this one has additional buttons to allow you to store your favorite applications, so that they are one-touch away from launching. There is an FLock button to enable double usage from the F keys (I haven't had much use to turn off the FLock yet, but I like that it's there). Buttons across the top that seem to be becoming standard include: messenger, web home, mail, music player controls, my docs, my pix, my music ... volume controls on the upper-left, and a nifty little zoom slider on the left side of the KB (not at all in the way I might add). The package comes with a keyboard hand rest that connects to the KB, but doesn't really seem to matter, for my use anyway.

Most importantly (for me that is) is the action of the KB ... soft touch, but still feels like your typing is connecting with the KB; I can't stand some of the "soft touch" KBs that feel like your pressing into a pile of cotton. This KB has great action but without the annoying "clackity-clack" of some KBs.

Finally, it's just a great looking KB! That may not be important to some, but I've had some ugly ones, and this one has a nice look and feel to it.

I'd recommend for anyone who types ;), and I'd definitely purchase again!

Customer Review: Not bad. Not bad at all.

Okay, so it's not my trusty and indestructable 10lb. IBM Model M keyboard, with it's individually switched keys and a keystroke feel that's all but disappeared from computerdom. But when I recently went to a laptop as my main computer, it became apparent that I was going to need a new keyboard, and it would have to be a USB model since my new computer didn't sport any PS2 connections. After looking around, I found this one. At $26 I figured I wasn't risking much, although I wasn't expecting that much either; just a simple functional tool that would help me out in the office while my laptop was docked. What I got was much better than I expected. Although I'm still getting used to all the gee-gaws that come on it, I'm finding that all it's additional functions really make computing that much easier; and it works great with just about everything! The software is easy to use and it's a snap to assign or re-assign any of the special keys for whatever the heck you need. The keys have a slightly mushy feel typical of membrane switched keys, but hey, for 26 bucks I'm okay with that! Overall, it was a good bargain - what I wanted was functional, and functional it is.

I plan to hang onto my old model M though. I think I'll use it for my gravestone when I die.

Customer Review: Great Keyboard!
Summary: 5 Stars

The Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard has a lot of great functions/ features.

Pros...I was looking for a keyboard with a sleep mode button, which it has! IT also has five favorites buttons that is customizeable, of course. There is a my documents, my pictures, my music, mail, web/home, messanger, calculator and a lock button as well. Plus, there is a slider key on the side that can enlarge your screen and all this extra stuff is fun to use.It is a very responsive keyboard too. Oh.. Not to forget about the volume, fast forward and rewind buttons for your dvd, music experience. The price is very good for what you get!

Cons...The Keyboard is thick and the keys need a heavier push than what I was used to, but it you get used to it just fine. It is not wireless but it uses an USB connection.

I have an HP computer and the keyboard that came with it was thin but the letters on the keys kept coming off, so I had to compalin about it and HP sent me a replacement but that was worse with the same problem of the letters coming off, so I got tired of that mess and that's why I ordered this keyboard. I am a heavy user and need a reliable and hard working keyboard! I have not had it but a month and so far so good!
