Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Microsoft Arc Mouse - BlackCustomer Review: Nice mouse, just don't expect the scroll wheel to last Summary: 1 Stars
I'm on my third Microsoft Arc mouse and just seconds ago, the scroll wheel stopped working - again! Yes, I love this mouse. It's one of the most comfortable for my hand. It's also got quite an elegant design and relatively good accuracy. Unfortunately, the scroll wheel is faulty by design. The first one died after just 3 weeks, but I thought it was just a fluke (after all, how often does a scroll wheel stop working under normal use?). So I calmly exchanged it for a second which lasted less than 4 days. Once again I exchanged it only to have the scroll wheel fail after 2 weeks. So that's it. I've made a valiant effort but it looks like I'll have to give up on my favorite mouse and find another until after the faulty scroll wheel problem is corrected in a future incarnation.
Customer Review: Ugh. I LOVE this mouse, but it suffered the ill-fate of it's bretheren. Summary: 2 Stars
This mouse is one of my long-time favorite wireless mice. And whats not to like? Its compact, easily folded and stored, good battery life, great sensitivity and looks cool! I was happy with this purchase up until 3 days ago when I suddenly, without warning, contracted SWDS (Scroll Wheel Death Syndrome-For those wondering, yes I made that up).
I read all the reviews, but was hoping that I would get lucky, and actually was for almost 3 months, but two days ago it packed up and took a long dirt nap. I wish MSFT would recognize this and provide a fix, as this really is a great mouse otherwise. But who knows if and when this will happen.
I suggest staying away from this until they rebuild the scroll wheel with beefier hardware.
Customer Review: Really cool Summary: 5 Stars
I'm a Logitech guy, probably always will be but there has always something nice about the Microsoft mouse click feel that Logitech can't quite get. But I didn't even know the Arc Mouse was coming out, saw it at a store, impulse buy and overall--very pleased. The wheel doesn't support left and right but I have never liked that. The 3D Flip feature is all I need.
Excellent look and (I saw one guy said his finger tips touch the desk???What???) the size and feel is really really smooth. I am really sold on this. Shoot, I may buy another one. (The Red has a slick plastic look where the black one has a texture that I'm concerned will attract dust and cookie crumbs).
One final benefit -- it folds to a small size. Nice job.
Customer Review: Arc Mouse Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this mouse because it's white & there aren't too many white mouses out there, not nice ones anyway. I loved everything about it.....until it stopped working, as per all the reviews here.
After about 3 months I finally decided to get onto microsoft & ran thru the list of 'things to try' before progressing with the issue. I picked at the stuff I hadn't already done.
After uninstalling the driver software, and reinstalling manually from Microsoft's website, the mouse is now working! Initially I had tried installing the software manually, expecting that if my version required an upgrade then it would 'happen'. This is not the case - I needed to actually uninstall/reinstall.
Hopefully this information can help someone :)
Customer Review: Best compact full-sized mouse so far... Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this mouse in Australia and have been using it every day (heavy duty) for over a year. Feels great in my hand, works like a champ, folds for great reduction in size, and looks good. Keeping it closed when not in use really helps the battery life. I will definitely buy more in the future!
Update: I am going on two years with the Arc Mouse. It is very durable and the tracking, clicking and battery life are great. The new Arc is curved when on, and off when flat (and very cool looking). I was going to buy one, but the right/left click buttons feel harder to push and the edge of the mouse seems to get in the way of clicking the buttons. So this week I am ordering another original Arc Mouse for my other computer.
