Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Microsoft Arc Mouse - Black

Customer Review: Takes getting used to!
Summary: 4 Stars

You have to hand it to Microsoft for coming up with a unique looking product. And that folding design is quite awesome...

I bought one for due to the design, look, etc. I must say I am impressed.
It looks 'COOL', to put it simply.

The usb transceiver is tiny and stays out of the way. I personally use this on a MAC and its quite the mouse. Very very very interesting fit around my BIG hands - I dont think I have felt anything more ergonomic and stable.

Use of the mouse is perfect, works on most surfaces that I have put it on...including reflective desks, granite countertops, etc. NO issues!

My only reason for 4/5 is the forward and back buttons on the front of the mouse. They seem to be oddly placed, and in-fact seem totally un-necessary on a mouse like this.

The wheel is smooth and with intellipoint software loaded on a pc or mac this mouse will make for a good pointing experience.

The Amazon price, shipping, and overall service are excellent as always.

Customer Review: Arc Mouse Wheel - More Info from Microsoft
Summary: 4 Stars

I recently saw some of these posts regarding the problems people are having with the Arc Mouse scroll wheel. I work at Microsoft Hardware, and use the Arc Mouse every day, so wanted to try to help.
After we first shipped the Arc mouse in September 2008, we quickly discovered an issue with the scroll wheel. We fixed it and new mice being manufactured don't have this issue. (And for people reading this review who have not already purchased a mouse, any new mice you purchase TODAY should not have this problem.) However, there were a small amount of units manufactured that we couldn't catch in time before they made their way to the store shelf or warehouse.

If you are using the Arc Mouse, and your scroll wheel stops functioning, you can call this number to get support: (800) 360-7561. (US customers only.)

We really value your feedback and want to ensure you are satisfied with your Microsoft products. Keep the reviews coming.

Customer Review: Unique, good, she is a beauty!
Summary: 5 Stars

Maybe a bit too wide on the front side, but that's all what I have to object to!

This is a uniquely designed product which combines both optical attractiveness, practical usefulness and perfect function. I like everything on this mouse. Its small size folded allows me to take it in my pocket to meetings. It is a full size mouse when it is opened, buttons feel perfect, and I like the "oh, ah, how cool" reactions of everybody who sees it the first time. The USB sender dongle has a magnetic docking place, it connects quickly to the mouse and this product seem to be compatible to all sorts of laptops and OS versions which I randomly encounter on meetings and in conference demo rooms. Battery life is... unknown to me, meaning: The first battery just keep going for months already, I never changed it so far! The mouse comes with a soft travel pouch.

Highly recommended cool product, on which everything is "out the ordinary."!

Customer Review: Satisfies my minimalist tastes
Summary: 5 Stars

From the instant I saw the Arc, I fell in love with it instantly. Although I was disappointed by the negative reviews it was receiving due to the scroll wheel issue. So I waited it out a few months and wait for Microsoft to iron out that problem in future builds. They fixed it, I bought it. I love it. At first you would think it would be too small for your hand to rest comfortably on. But actually its rather comfortable. The black version has a nice matte finish on it and it looks very nice. The only thing is that finger oils show up on the mouse, so I clean mine weekly. It folds up into a nice compact form and even come with a little pouch for traveling. Battery life is great, runs off 2 double AA batteries. There is a indicator light that lets you know when juice is getting low. Although I have been using mine for months and have yet to see it light up warning me. The mouse is great and infact I am buying one for my friend for his birthday.

Customer Review: Really neat mouse with two killer problems
Summary: 1 Stars

I can only speak for the mouse I received but I find this mouse next to unusable for two key reasons. The scroll wheel stops working after a few minutes of use, this sucks. This is worst than not having a scroll wheel -- it messes with your head -- not worth it. Second major problem is that it is hypersensitive. Sure I can adjust the sensitivity in windows but that has an affect on all my devices which means that I will have to readjust when I switch to say my track pad or another mouse or dock my system. The windows setting is a user preference, since there is no "device profile" Microsoft should have taken the time to normalize the mouse.

I gave one star because I would rather not own it. I feel a need to use it because of it's beauty and awesomeness but if I do I have to deal with the frustration caused as a result of its short comings. Things you paid for should cause you frustration. Great for show, bad mouse.
