I bought this mouse through Walmart.com, only for the easy return. Finding a "wired" mouse in stores these days is darn near impossible!
Yes, this would be good for a laptop that isn't used for any real length of time. It's small enough for a Mouse to use! Okay...maybe not THAT small but I know a golden retriever could easily use it! Now I have small hands. I buy children's winter gloves because they fit my hands so well. This mouse was way too small for me! The wheel was stiff and difficult to move while trying to keep 2 fingers on the mouse to hold it steady. The retractor seemed cheaply made and I can't imagine it would work for very long but the cord itself is a nice length. I prefer "wired" equipment because I hate the thought of buying tons of batteries. And then there's the problem with where to dump the used batteries. How would you like a "battery landfill" under that new million dollar home you bought and growing your own "organic" vegetables??? This is a laptop mouse and should never be thought of as one that could be used on a daily basis. It would destroy your hand. I tried it because reviewers here said to try a laptop mouse if you have small hands. I tried, it didn't work. My search continues....
