....everything is good except for the double A battery housing, one of the gold plated prongs broke off....so in the interim.....im using a piece of foil to complete the circuit, otherwise it will not power up, just a temporary fix until i can get it soldered back in place ....as far as the overall product, i like it and would recommend it ....although just be careful taking batteries in and outCustomer Review: Fits perfect

The Targus battery grip for the D40 works as described.
Might get one for my D3000 also as I read one of the reviews that it does fit that camera.
I work next to photogs from major newspapers that supply them with D3s Nikons. I pay for my own gear!
One of them asked if I had upgraded to a D3 the grip looks that good!!

This product has to be programmed into the Nikon D40 and it does not stay on long then you have to reset it. You can only use it in one shooting mode. For my needs it was not efficient enough. This battery grip is sharp looking and make Nikon d40 camera more professional. I am used to handle a larger size camera and this battery grip provide addition gripping area. Also with 2 batteries, shooting time also increase,which is helpful for colder weather and extensive use of VR Lenses.Customer Review: Very poor!

i was very disappointed with this product, poor quality. Shutter release didn't even work.
the whole unit was manufactured poorly. Contacted company still haven't heard from them.
It would be nice for a vertical grip to work for its intended use ie. being able to shoot vertically.
