Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Memorex 8.5Gb/ 2.4x DVD+R Dual Layer (25-Pack Spindle)Customer Review: Horrible! Just Horrible! Summary: 1 Stars
If you have money to burn, buy this DVD media. Memorex makes decent DVD-R's, but their dual layer discs are just horrible. I do video editing part time, so I get to burn many DVD's in any given month. These are by far the worst I have ever used. Yes, they are cheap, but you will end up throwing many of them away. It isn't worth the investment or the trouble. I now use Verbatim and I have no regrets.
Customer Review: 3 coasters and counting Summary: 1 Stars
Save your money, for DVD dual layer back-up, these discs are not working, using a new Sony DRX-820ULT Dual Layer burner and Nero Burning ROM SE 6.6 which came bundled with the burner. The disc back-ups burn completely and "successfully" according to the software, but when you put them in a player to view, the video stutters and skips and freezes. I would not recommend these discs for DVD back-up.
Customer Review: So far, so BAD Summary: 1 Stars
I bought a 25 pack to use with my Mac-mini, which just spits them back out at me unrecognized. Apple has confirmed that they should work, but admits that success varies with brand. I guess I'll go thru the whole stack in hopes that some will work. Maybe someone will invent a target-tossing device for these dogs so we can blast 'em like clay pigeons and at least get some satisfaction.
Customer Review: Cheaper than Ritek, and you get what you pay for Summary: 2 Stars
I have two DL burners, an NEC and an HP. I've used hundreds Ritek/Ridata DL discs, and over 3 years, I've generated maybe only dozen coasters. Very low failure rate. But I was feeling a little cheap this time around and went for the Memorex low price. Bad move, because out of the 25 discs, half are coasters, both from my NEC and HP drives. I'm going back to Ritek/Ridata.
Customer Review: Update: Works with Toast Titanium 6.1.1 on NEC 3520A. Summary: 2 Stars
Tried burning it on my Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop DVD burner using Nero 6.6.0.15. Burn fails 100 % of the time. Not sure if its media fault. Have ordered a NEC 3520A burner. Will try and update. Two stars for the price.
Update..
It works on my NEC 3520A as external DVD writer with Toast Titanium 6.1.1 on Powerbook G4 Mac OS X 10.3.9. 100%.
