Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Memorex 8.5Gb/ 2.4x DVD+R Dual Layer (25-Pack Spindle)

Customer Review: No problems, but make sure your player accepts them
Summary: 5 Stars

I have an Oppo DVD player, which upconverts, so the model is fairly new and I have had no problems burning media and having it play in that unit. What you may experience may differ. I also used "1-Click DVD" software for burning and got a respectable copy. I write all this to correspond to my title. Double layers aren't really new anymore, but I'm not sure what your software or player might do. With the hardware/software I'm using, there have been zero coasters

Customer Review: Haven't had a coaster yet.
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a pentium 4 HT 3.0 (oldie but goodie) with 1 gb memory and an NEC bunner ND 3550A. I have had no problems. I also use "DVD DECRYPTER" for my program. NOTE: Since DVD DECRYPTER is not available anymore, set a restore point first before trying to install it. You might have to visit a couple of freeware sites before you get a working program. The bad program will lock up and acts like a virus, that is why you need to set a restore point first!

Customer Review: Garbage

Wow, a couple of these worked. The rest, uh, not so much. For information's sake, I use a Plextor 716UF and dell laptop. Tried Roxio and DVD Clone. They didn't work well on either. Since my unfortunate purchase I have read that Memorex uses the cheapest dye for their DL disks. It shows. I expected a much better (working) product from a name brand like Memorex. I bought some Verbatim DLs and they worked flawlessly.

Customer Review: These dvd+ dl's work for me.
Summary: 5 Stars

The 1st dl's that I burned 2 years ago were Memorex (Ritek sourced) and in the ensueing time I've burned about 120 of these and never had even one coaster-I can only assume that a lot of the problems that people have with them are burner related as I use Samsung drives. These are as good as Verbatims in my book. I went back and checked the 1st ones that I burned 2 years ago and they still work perfectly-0% failure rate.

Customer Review: Very disappointed with Memorex DL
Summary: 1 Stars

Using disks primarily for data backups on a Sony DRU-810A with the latest firmware and bundled Nero software. Was hoping to reduce the number of backup sets with increased capacity of Double-layer. However only 1 out of every 5 disks is good -- the others result in write errors. Have written hundreds of Single-layer Memorex disks on this drive flawlessly. I guess I'll stick with Single-layer discs for backups.
