Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Memorex DVD+R 16x 4.7GB 100 Pack SpindleCustomer Review: Reliable under most conditions Summary: 4 Stars
I burn plenty of DVDs, and I bought these again after Amazon ran out of Verbatim, and I ran into problems when burning at 4x inside VMWare Fusion in a Macbook, so it's kind of an odd configuration and that's why I gave it 4 stars. Reducing burn speed to 2.4x worked. Burning on a PC or on the Mac Side, I've had no problems with Memorex after 150+ discs. Still, Verbatim is the only brand that I can give 5 stars to, it has been 100% reliable in well over 300 discs I've burned in the past months. Taiyo Yuden appears to be even better, but I can't find a reliable source (such as Amazon directly), and given how easy it is to sell counterfeit discs, I don't want to pay the premium only to end up with brand X.
Customer Review: WARNING!!! This product 50% defected Summary: 1 Stars
I usually don't post any reviews from purchases I have made, but I must warn everybody of these Memorex DVD's. I purchase these thinking it was a great deal $29.99 for a bundle of 100. As of now I have use 20 of them, were 11 of them have been defected after I've gone back to look at them. So at this rate I'm about to received 50 good DVD's and 50 coasters. These DVD's do burn fast at 16X, however, what does it matter if there defected, it's just wasting my time. I also bought the "Verbatim DVD+R 4.7GB 8X DataLifePlus White Inkjet Printable." I've use 12 of these, and quality is superb, and NO COASTER here. A little slower, but at least it is not wasting my time.
Customer Review: MEMOREX IS THE BEST FOR ME Summary: 5 Stars
THE FIRST BATCH OF DVD'S I EVER GOT WERE MEMOREX DVD+R AND THAT WAS APPROXIMATLEY ,2001-2002. THEY WERE EXPENSIVE AT THE TIME, BUT YOU KNOW, I DIDNT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THEM. I'VE TRIED OTHER KINDS OVER THE YEARS FOR A CHEAPER PRICE AND NONE, NOT ONE, HAS EVEN WORKED FOR ME. IT SEEMS THAT THE ONLY ONE THAT WORKS FOR ME IS MEMOREX. NOW THAT THE PRICE OF 100 DVD+R'S IS DOWN TO WHAT I USED TO BASICALLY GET LIKE 10 FOR THERE IS NO REASON NOT TO PURCHSE THESE. I THINK MEMOREX IS BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST OF THE BLANK DVD'S THAT ARE ON THE MARKET. THEY ARE ALWAYS UPGRADING AND COMING OUT WITH NEW STUFF......ONE WORD MEMOREX!!!!!!!!
Customer Review: New packaging, lower quality media? Summary: 1 Stars
I've been buying Memorex dvd+r discs for years. Never had a problem. I always get good quality burns and the discs maintain quality even years after the initial burn. Now Memorex has changed the packaging from a solid based spindle to a turn and screw contraption. I've bought a few of these since they were on sale and I've had nothing but problems with them. My internal drive won't read the discs at all. My external recognizes it but my burning software tells me the disc isn't writable. I've tried with numerous discs from different spindles and am still getting the same result. Anyone else experiencing anything similar?
Customer Review: Avoid Memorex DVD's Summary: 1 Stars
I'm in the process of recording many of my VHS tapes into DVD's. Recently I bought a 100-spindle pack of Memorex DVDs. IF you want to become familiar with the "burning process failed" or other similar message, these are the ones to buy. About 1 out 4 fail & end up as coasters - even using reduced recording speeds. I've not had poor results with TDK, Verbatim or Maxell; an expert pal of mine said that Fuji is the best he's used and that Verbatim is starting to get quality problems from some of its outsourced manufacturers {in the UAE, for example}. Pay the extra 2 or 3 cents per DVD and get quality - Not Memorex.
