Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Memorex CD/DVD Sleeves Paper with Window Cut-Out & Back Flap (50-Pack)Customer Review: Very good paper sleeves for protecting and transporting CDs and DVDs Summary: 5 Stars
Memorex makes an excellent paper sleeve to protect CDs and DVDs from lying around gathering dust. The paper sleeves are also particularly good when mailing CDs and DVD discs because they protect the disc while reducing the cost of postage. It costs less to mail CD and DVD media in paper sleeves than it does to mail the same CDs and DVDs in slim jewel cases. This savings alone should make these sleeves pay for themselves!
The color white is neutral and doesn't distract you from being able to focus on the label or other writing on the CD or DVD. I agree with the reviewer who notes that there is a hole in the back of the sleeve into which you can insert a flap. This ensures that the CDs and DVDs don't dislodge when they are in transit in the postal system or your car as you take them from one place to another.
They are also useful for people who have accumulated so many CDs and DVDs that to store the media even in the slim jewel cases now takes up too much room.
Overall, these are good quality paper sleeves at the right price. I highly recommend these CD/DVD paper sleeves for people who want a practical and cost-efficient alternative to jewel cases.
Customer Review: Beware of rubber-band! Summary: 1 Stars
I ordered these Memorex sleeves, because Memorex was a respected brand, and they appeared to meet my needs. When I opened the Memorex box, I was appalled to see that all of the sleeves were very tightly bound with a rubber band. This deformed about half of the sleeves (about one quarter of them on each of the two ends). If I had been ordering these only for my own use, I might not have minded this, but these were to be protective sleeves for gift CD's.
I checked at several large stationery stores to see if this was common practice for Memorex, and every Memorex box had the deforming rubber band. It was also interesting to note that the Memorex box had a cutaway so that the sleeves could be seen, but it was oriented so that the rubber band was not visible. One might be inclined to label this deceptive packaging.
I also read all of the Amazon reviews carefully, and found that this was not a recent development--reviews dating back to 2004 commented on this packaging by Memorex.
Customer Review: Simple, clean, does the job. Summary: 4 Stars
What can you say - these are basic white paper sleeves with a clear front for CDs or DVDs. I buy CDs and DVDs by the spindle, so I don't have jewel boxes or sleeves for them.
So many of the CDs or DVDs I burn on my computer have a limited lifespan -- in terms of my needs, but I always felt bad just tossing them in my bag without any protection. These sleeves work to provide low level protection from scratching for storage or transportation. They're cheap. The don't take up a lot of space.
Not clear why they are bound with a rubber binder and then boxed - as other reviewers have noted, it creates a crease in the cases when you first get them, but it doesn't compromise their quality at all.
I have a lot left, but when I run out, I'll probably buy the same package unless a newer cheaper product comes along for a similar purpose.
Customer Review: Valtz 4 drawer CD/DVD storage cabinet Summary: 3 Stars
I had previously purchased this same model unit and when it became full was glad to find I could order an identical unit to store the accumulating discs. The first unit was excellent quality, but the drawers stuck in the second unit, requiring slaming of drawers shut while holding cabinet to get them fully closed. I tried the drawers from the original cabinet in new case and had same problem; new drawers worked fine in old cabinet. All 4 drawers bound on the upper right corner, so I suspect cabinet is slightly twisted, but there was no sign of damage to the shipping boxes - two boxes over unit. I decided to just live with the problem rather than attemmpt an exchange.
The unit iis well made, attractive, and each drawer has a key lock. It would have been nicer if the units were configured for stacking as the top unit will slide on bottom.
Customer Review: Functional But Not For Professional Use Summary: 3 Stars
These Memorex CD\DVD Sleeves work as expected to hold CD\DVD media but as others have noted, the rubber band used to package the sleeves significantly wrinkled the clear plastic window that shows the image printed on the disc. Ordinarily this would not be a problem for most uses, but we professionally produce instructional and promotional videos that we bulk distribute in similar sleeves. Unfortunately we ran out at the end of a production run so needed a few extra to finish the job so I ended up buying two packs of these locally and went through them to find fifty that were not too badly distorted to use for our customer, the rest we will use for our own discs in our shop.
Otherwise these are decent enough quality for daily use.
