I agree with other reviewers that this is a lot for the price (other brands are 2x$ for same product--little brush hairs on a disc--but they don't have the audio diagnostic features.)
To those whose players reject the disc: re-insert until the player reads the disc. I had to insert the disc 4x on initial use. (Because the lens was dirty???) Not a problem any more.
I thought a lot of my discs were damaged, but it turns out most of the problems were actually the player.
VERY HAPPY.

If you've even owned a phonograph player, you periodially cleaned the needle because of lint and dust. It's the same with the laser lens on a CD/DVD media player. They need to be cleaned of lint and dust and the easiest way to do this is to use a CD/DVD cleaning disk. I've owned other CD/DVD lens cleaning disks but the Memorex Lens Cleaner is one of the better units around. It also includes a sound optimization tool that walks you through the optimizing of your sound system speakers. Pretty awesome!Customer Review: It did the trick for me.

I own an older Sony DVD player (when they used to be around $250 gulp). I've been having problems playing DVD's...they kept skipping...especially DVD-Rs. I thought the problem was with the dics but as it turned out all it needed was a little cleaning. I did my research and trust me you can't beat this price. Works on CD players and DVD players only.
Beware that it does not work on computer CD-Roms as it will crush the little brushes.

Some rented DVDs had dead spots and after cleaning the discs and with no improvement, we planned buying a new player. Until a Google search sent us to the Memorex CD/DVD-Player Laser-Lens Cleaner at Amazon. One treatment with this inexpensive new tool and all was fixed. Obviously, the problem was dirt on the player lens, for which the player's troubleshooting guide made no mention. The cleaner would be better with a more concise (time saving) oral user guide. I own a Sony 2001 SCD775 CD/SACD Player. Until recently it would play any burned CD's perfectly. During the last several months, it would refuse to recognize burned cd's at all most of the time. This problem seemed to be dirt, as burned cd's are more difficult to read than regular cd's. This Memorex CD/DVD Laser Lens cleaner worked quickly and restored my CD player to perfect working condition for burned and regular CD's. Give this CD cleaner a shot--it's definitely worth the money!
