Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Memorex 32020013358 25GB 4X Write-Once BD-R Blu-ray Discs (15pk Spindle)Customer Review: These Blue-ray DVD's seem to degrade over a short time Summary: 1 Stars
You know, one would imagine that once you burn successfully a video production using one of these babies (Memorex BD-R, 1-4x, 25GB) you would expect them to last a lifetime. Unfortunately that is not the case.
I burned a High Definition production about 8 months ago, watched the disk 4-5 times, have kept the surface immaculately clean, only to find out I have lost all the work; this happened to 2 of my disks. At first I thought that the Blue-ray DVD drive had gone bad, but tested them in 3 other players, updated my Sony BDP-S550 firmware, and have not been able to read the DVD disks again.
I do not perform surgical operations in brains...but something tells me that this media (perhaps this brand) can go bad over time. Anybody else with same experiences?
Customer Review: Great Deal Summary: 5 Stars
This is probably the best deal on blu rays I have found and what I payed comes out to be about six or seven dollars a disc (given the price I payed) . I have a ton of AVCHD stuff to burn so I need plenty of discs so I shopped around to see the best deal I could. The one problem I ran into was from what I can tell you can't drag and drop like a rewritable blu ray disc. I can make a data disc with -R discs but they won't be recognized by my blu ray player as video like a rewritable blu ray disc that I drag and drop my AVCHD video files. Every single disc is error free so these have earned their value and given the price if you need blu rays I would check these out. My problems are minimal considering how much data can be fit on these discs and the great price.
Customer Review: Copying movies. Summary: 1 Stars
If you are looking to back up movies you already own then you are S.O.L..
Most blu ray movies are over 25 gb or just 1 gb over. If you thought this is a deal guess again. It is cheaper to buy doubles of the movie than getting this bundle. Realisicly, you will have to always go for the 50 gb discs everytime to back up all your movies that you already own. So, these discs are totally useless, and are only good for backing data up. Do the math, and you will see large capacity 2 tb harddrives are much cheaper. HollywOod, and the disc makers are working hand in hand to screw the consumer. By the way, you are all welcome for my advice . DVD is far from dead to the average consumer; thanks OBAMA bin laden for this economic crisis...
Customer Review: Memorex = Ritek = Garbage Summary: 1 Stars
5-10 people making the same complaint can't be wrong. I never write reviews, but this stuff angers me so much that I must. First of all, pay attention to what your media really is. Memorex, Maxell, these are just rebrands of Ritek media. Ritek has always been garbage, but at the time I purchased these, they were the only affordable brand on the market. They usually burn fine, and work, at first. But after some time passes, none of them are readable anymore. I will never buy ANYthing Memorex, Maxell, or Ritek EVER again. Go with Verbatims instead, or maybe even Panasonic like others have said. But do yourself a favor and check the media code. If it says Ritek, return it immediately.
Customer Review: Was great for the first six months- now the disks are DEAD Summary: 1 Stars
I've burned quite a few of these by now, all for 1080p HD Blu-ray video for my business, and I've never had one fail on my LG BD burner. At least not upon the burn itself. But... that was eight months ago! Now my client is coming back to me with all dead disks! I smell a class action suit in the making here. There is NO reason a disk should not last at least 4 years-period! And as everyone has pointed out, these are hardly the 25 cent CD-ROMs you can get.
These things are very expensive and not the kind of disk you want to be replacing often. But less than a year? I want my money back and I will not be buying anything else from Memorex for a while.
