Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Mediabridge Ultra Series - High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet - (6 Feet) - Category 2 Certified - Supports 3D & Audio Return Channel [Latest HDMI Version Available]Customer Review: Best HDMI Cable you can buy. Period. Summary: 5 Stars
Don't be fooled by the price... This is truly an exception to the adage "you get what you pay for." The Mediabridge HDMI cables are the best HDMI cables you can buy. Period. Regardless of price or the salespitch that the "home theater guy" at your electronics store gives you.
I own a Panasonic Blu-ray player, and I recently purchased my first 1080p HDTV. My previous setup involved hooking up my Blu-ray player to my 720p LCD via a "no-name" Category 1 HDMI cable. Of course, that worked fine, as I only ran Blu-rays at 720p. When I stepped up to the 1080p, I tried using the same Category 1 cable as before because I initially was a believer in the "all HDMI cables are the same" school of thought. It "worked" but the performance was spotty and there were artifacts here and there. I did some research and found out that 1080p needed a "Category 2" HDMI cable. So, I came to Amazon and found out about these Mediabridge cables... 1080p, 120Hz, Category 2, Version 1.3, and considering all the amazing reviews about them, I thought I would try them out. If they didn't work out, it was only a $10 loss!
Well, add me to those amazing reviews! They didn't just "work out," they were downright stunning. The cable was very well put together, sturdy connectors, thick cable. Picture quality pristine. Sound quality fantastic. No glitches, no artifacts, no problems whatsoever. To truly test them out, I had a friend bring over his ever-so-valued Monster cable to test. Performance was identical. Price... was not. These truly are the best HDMI cables you can buy.
Customer Review: Buyer beware Summary: 1 Stars
After reading numerous positive reviews about this product, I decided to buy this cheap HDMI cable for my HDTV. However, after only 5 weeks of use, we started to get audio problems (silence for a few seconds every 3 minutes or so) and then finally it would no longer send the signal from my HD DVR cable box in any resolution higher than standard, i.e. NO HD. After resetting the signal and troubleshooting the DVR, the DVD player and the HDTV, I spent hours trying to figure out how to resolve the problem adjusting all the settings.
Then the time warner customer service suggested swapping out the HDMI cable. I did and the 1080p picture returned!
This HDMI cable failed in less than 5 weeks of moderate use, i.e. less than 3 hours per day. Because it is no longer returnable and not worth it under existing policy, this cable will now have to be sent to help fill some landfill somewhere further polluting the environment.
A few of my friends warned me about purchasing a cheap HDMI cable, but I was influenced by all the positive feedback for this product. It is strange that so many people have recommended this product but I wonder if their opinion has changed after a few months.
It is possible that I just got a dud, but each of you will have to decide whether you want to take a chance on this cheap cable for your expensive HDTV.Mediabridge - 6ft Ultra-High Speed HDMI Cable - 120 Hz - Version 1.3 Category 2 - 1080p - PS3 - Blu-Ray
Customer Review: Worth Every Penny... and then some Summary: 5 Stars
So I've had my fair share of HDMI cables over the years. I have a Rocketfish one from Best Buy that I use for my DirecTV and that has never given me problems. However, I've been through 5 cables for my DVD player, then PS3. I used to think all HDMI cables are the same and just go ahead and order them because they looked nice, or because they were cheap. But after a while, each one would start acting up. From horrible blacks with spots all in them, or interrupted signal, to complete signal loss I was getting really frustrated. For the longest time I thought it was my TV, I thought maybe the HDMI input on the side of my TV was messed up since I wasn't having that issue with the one used for my DirecTV. I would constantly have to wiggle my cable, or unplug it and replug it and wait and hope it would be better and last me throughout the movie. It used to be really embarrassing when I had friends over and we were watching a movie or playing a game and my TV would stop working.
Then I finally decided to do some research and came to find that not all HDMI's are created equal. The contrasts and picture quality with this one are great, comparable to my Rocketfish one (although I paid MUCH more for the Rocketfish cable). I don't use it for sound transfer since I have the optical connected to a surround sound so I can't really comment on that. Definitely worth the price. Stop going for the cheap ones (Although this one is actually really cheap) and put in that extra $2-$3 and get this one. It'll last longer and make that money you spent on your awesome TV more worth it.

This is a wonderful HDMI cable. I purchased a $69.99 Rocketfish HDMI cable from Best Buy, A $49.99 Monster HDMI cable from Hhgregg, and a $39.99 Sony HDMI cable from Walmart, and this cable performs just as good as any of them for ONLY $9.99! I must admit I was a little skeptical at first because the construction quality seemed questionable. The cable is slightly a little thinner than any other HDMI cable I own and I wasn't very confident in the outside rubber shielding, but when I plugged it in the back of my HP Pavillion Elite computer I recently purchased, the picture and sound were perfect.
I've watched Bluray Movies on my desktop and the picture quality seems to be exactly the same. I have my HP Pavillion hooked up directly to my receiver just like my PS3 and Xbox 360. Just to make sure the quality of my movies was the same I switched the Rocketfish(most expensive) HDMI cable I had in my PS3 and used it on my desktop, and the picture quality was the same. I noticed no difference. If you want real value for your money, I highly recommend this product.
Like I noted before, the construction quality is a little odd being the outside shielding of the cable is some type of rubber material, but it really works better for me as it is more flexible to bend than my other HDMI cables. Mediabridge has produced a cable that is both economic and of the highest quality as far as picture and sound go. I plan to purchase one more for my sattelite receiver to complete my entertainment setup. I am so glad this HDMI cable is sensibly priced!
Customer Review: Absolutely NOTHING wrong with these cables... Summary: 5 Stars
Just purchased a Panasonic TH-42PZ85U and upgraded my cable to HD. I'm also purchasing a PS3 in the coming weeks, so I needed additional HDMI cables. The ones that my cable provider left with me were fine, however the specs were below those of this cable. Less bandwidth, slower speed, and not version 1.3 Cat B. "Upgraded" to these cables, tested them both, and they both work fine. Absolutely no problems whatsoever. I will say that I don't really see much difference in the picture or sound compared to the original cables left by the cable provider, although after watching a basketball game in HD for a while with all cables for comparison, I'd say these cables were a little sharper.
Here's the bottom line...people will write a bad review about anything and everything, and will probably mention how they're in disbelief that anyone would ever order such a thing. Maybe I would too if something I purchased didn't work as expected. You're bound to come across a piece of equipment that has a defect, no matter what you buy. All I can say is, there are MANY more possitive reviews about this cable than there are negatives. I think that says something. For $10 you really can't beat the price, and I think the quality is top-notch. I don't buy in to the theory that "All cables are created equal" either, but I also wouldn't recommend going out and buying a $60+ cable. Do the research, and you'll find many lower-priced cables with the same specs as the higher priced cables that do just as good of a job...like this one!
