The experts say digital cables have little effect on the quality of the signal, and I believe their reasoning is sound. Particularly at this length. Still, who wants to connect a $500 blu-ray player to a $3000 TV with a rinky dink cable?
On the other hand, the over-priced audio store cables are quite a rip-off. For literally 1/10th the price you can get well made cables that work exactly as expected.
While the standard 6.6ft cables are perfectly fine, having that extra 3.4 feet of length makes positioning your components even easier.

I bought 3 6ft. cables & 1 10ft.Mediabridge Ultra Series cable. I hooked the 10 ft. cable from tv to receiver according to directions. The tv goes completely black from time to time. I hooked up a 6ft. cable from receiver to blu-ray player and it also lost picture and never came back. I tried several solutions and nothing worked. After trying for a few days I decided to buy a new cable and when I replaced your cable it solved the problem. I would like to get a refund. The Samsung 46in. led un46000 tv & samsung blu-ray disc player are great.Customer Review: audio signal would not work

I read a lot of great reviews, so I purchased this brand HDMI from Amazon. I have always been impressed with the quality of electronics I purchase here; I read the reviews faithfully. While the video signal using this HDMI was great (from my cable box to the tv), the audio continually cuts out. I had to go back to using component (red, blue, green + red and white) cables which work perfectly. A local retailer told me (which I have trouble believing) that only the ultra high priced "monster" cable HDMI's are any good. Any suggestions?Customer Review: Yes, you get what you pay for

Everything seemed fine, picture quality sound etc until I hang the flat screen on the Sonus tilt mount and the cable got pressed between the drywall and the TV's HDMI port.
I heard what seemed to be wire stretching and when I looked in the back the 'gold' connector was completely detached from the plastic and the wire pins. Looking closely I could see that the connector was simply attached to the plastic via two small square brackets, one of which was soldered to the wiring. Indeed a $12 construction.

I held off on reviewing this cable for two months to make sure it holds up. It has in fact held up very well, and I have found no flaws in it. I play XBox 360 with this cable linked up to my TV, and it has presented no problems. It is a much simpler alternative to composite cables. The only downside is that the cord is not very flexible, but I don't need that, so it works well for me. It is definitely the way to go for people who don't want to pay fifty dollars for some rubber and metal. It's a "no-brainer," as they say.
