Customer Review: Works well, with conditions...
Summary: 3 Stars

I got the Maximo FM transmitter as a Christmas gift. I drive 95 miles to work every day, so I gave it a good workout. In rural areas, it works great - I had no complaints about sound quality. However, on a recent trip to Austin (woo-the big city!), I had to give up and turn it off because the interference from the local stations was just too much. I couldn't find a clear enough channel anywhere on the dial. Even in my normal areas of Waco and Bryan (not exactly urban jungles), I occasionally have interference problems. I can't really hold that against the transmitter, though, and if it was my only issue, I would probably be OK.

My big issue is that, after two months of use, it broke the other day. The tip of the part that goes into the power outlet in the car came off IN the power outlet, exposing the coductive parts inside to the walls of the power outlet. The resulting spark and brief fire were quite a surprise. I can't even find all the parts that came out to try to put it back together, and I have asked Maximo to honor their lifetime warranty. However, since this was a gift, I am not optimistic, but we'll see. Be forewarned that this could also be a problem for you, and you will need to check the connection before you plug it in to be sure it won't catch fire in your hand.

Customer Review: Great transmitter for the Sansa!
Summary: 5 Stars

I tried many transmitters when I first bought my Sansa e270 back in July of 2006, but unfortunately nothing had been made specifically for the Sansa at that point, so I was stuck using generics such as the Monster adaptors. I was not at all pleased with the results when using those transmitters as the signal was not strong enough for the tuner to capture without static.

At that point I decided to stick with tape adaptors for a while to fit my need and used that until other vendors began to manufacture products specifically for Sansa that would charge the player as well as allow the player to connect via line level out rather than the headphone output as this always results in advantageous audio results.

I was fortunate to receive this product for Christmas and honestly was at first a bit hesitant when I saw a name brand that I was not accustomed to. I was really expecting to receive something made by Griffin or Macally as they are more well known for their transmitters. As it was a gift it deserved an audition, which I did immediately. I was so impressed with the transmitter power that I immediately bought another transmitter for my wife to use for her Sansa e260. I receive crystal clear audio from the Sansa now and absolutely love this product. Highly recommended.

Customer Review: Good product - Great customer service
Summary: 4 Stars

I ordered this product based on all the positive user reviews. It arrived in a timely manner, and was easy to set up. Unfortunately, I ran into a strange situation wherein the end cap came unscrewed somehow after removing the transmitter from the socket after just the second use. I didn't notice right away, and only later realized that in transferring the unit from the car to my purse and back, I had lost both the silver part that extends from the end cap as well as the spring that was inside the unit. I still had the end cap and the fuse though. I thought I was going to have to buy a new unit. However, I found the Maximo website and submitted a request through Support/Service, and they responded within the hour. They are mailing the replacement parts, no questions asked. Such a positive experience!

As for the product itself, sound quality was good, set up was pretty easy. I did follow other reviewers recommendations to look for three stations in a row that had no signal and to lock in on the middle one to mimimize sound bleed from nearby stations. I would definitely purchase another Maximo product in the future.

Customer Review: Really nice product
Summary: 5 Stars

I got my Maximo FM Transmitter for my Sansa e280 and having used it for a day I can say I couldn't be happier. Its small, very easy to use, easy to program and unlike some other FM Tranmitters doesn't require you to plug anything into the headphone jack. That was what clinched it for me and I'm glad I picked this model.

For me the 3 FM presets is plenty and as it only takes a split second to program new presets I wonder why you'd need more than 3? I had a little trouble getting it turned on at first, but I just had to press a little harder to get my lighter mechanism to turn on. I did almost wreck my car while I was picking songs on my Sansa, but that's because I wasn't paying attention to the road.

Even at $50 its a good deal, and sound quality was really fantastic, that was a big fear as I'm pretty picky about music reproduction. Its at least CD quality which I really didn't expect. That combined with the sufficiently long cable and small size of the unit make this product a must have if you own a Sansa MP3 player.

Customer Review: Maxime FM Transmitter & Charger for Sansa MP3
Summary: 4 Stars

This s a great item. Not only does it charge your MP3, but it also allows you to listen to it via the FM transmitter. The power outlet/cigarette lighter transmitter is far superior to any of the battery operated transmitters I have tried in the past. I like the fact that it will allow you to change stations easily with 3 preset stations to choose from. This is a great feature especially if you travel to different areas often.

On the downside, the volume when listening to the MP3 player is much lower than any regular FM station and there is no way to adjust tis...either on the device OR the MP3 player so you need to turn the volume way up on your car stereo to be able to hear the music well. This is a bit of a nusience when you forget to turn down the volume before changing the station to a regular FM staton.

Other than that one drawback, I love it and would highly recommend it... if for no other reason than to have the ability to charge the MP3 and listen to it at the same time.
