Customer Review: Taking the temp of the Timex thermometer

We have one of the electronic weather stations that pick up the weather from the airport broadcast signal. Since I am a gardener, I don't really want to know the temp at the airport, but rather what it is in my back yard. Don't get me wrong, the weather stations are great though. It is really nice to have something that doesn't require batteries I have to say though...
First off, this thermometer is not small. I was a bit surprised when I got it out of the box. As it turns out, I really like its' size, since it makes it easier to read once it is mounted outside of your window. It has both Fahrenheit and Celsius temp scales. I have found it highly accurate when compared to my smart phone local weather temp and our weather station temps. One thing I didn't like was the way the bottom thermometer bracket had a molded shape in it that would seat in the metal mounting bracket. This was to prevent the thermometer from rotating in the wind. However, there is a somewhat narrow "field of view" for reading the result scale, which didn't match up to their preset plastic notches. Simple fix was to shave them off with a knife and it does not move in the wind. Note, mount in where there is not direct sunlight as that will give falsely elevated readings.
All in all, for the price, it's a nice and accurate piece of kit for your backyard.
