Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Manfrotto 725B Digi Tripod with Integrated Ball Head with Dove Tail Plate and Carrying Bag (Black)

Customer Review: Great, solid tripod for what it is
Summary: 4 Stars

The Manfrotto 725B is a solid, lightweight little tripod that will do the job, but it obviously lacks some features of more expensive tripods. There are a couple of things you should know before deciding to buy this tripod.

The ball head is integrated, which means you can't just take it off the tripod legs, and replace it with another head. It's really not a big problem in this case, and at this price point, because the head that comes on this tripod is a nice one. It's quick to adjust, and quite solid.

The legs only have one position, you cannot adjust their angle, like you can on many higher-end tripods. The legs are stable and well done, though. The telescoping locks feel a little flimsy, but I think they will hold up with careful use.

I do wish there were a bubble level included with the tripod, but I can't complain too much at this price point.

If you want a solid tripod, with a ball head, capable of supporting up to a 7-pound SLR body and lens combo, but you can't justify spending $250+ on a "pro" tripod, you could do far worse than the Manfrotto 725B.

Customer Review: Fine little tripod
Summary: 5 Stars

Manfrotto rates this for use with point and shoot cams. Its pretty small and thus would be perfect for that use. I mounted my Nikon D80 with a 5omm prime on it and did some test shots. It was quite steady and relatively easy to adjust. It did make me quite nervous when I flipped it to a horizontal - especially when the dog walked by. But it was fine. I mainly bought it as a backup, for travel, some indoor work, and to mount my flash and it works great for that. Especially since it folds up real nice and small and comes with its own carrying bag. I would say this is a fine tripod for the price, especially if you are planning to use it with a P&S as intended. I considered mounting my 28-70 2.8 to the D80 and giving it a whirl but I am not a glutton for punishment.

synopsis- Excellent for intended use. Carrying bag is a bonus. Lightweight and quite versatile. Serious DSLR users may want to fork out more $$$ for a more substantial tripod.

Customer Review: Leg locks still an issue - bad quality - bad support
Summary: 1 Stars

I have the 724b - Use it rarely and take good care of it
Its about 2 years old - been used maybe 6 times in 2 years
The leg clamps are breaking. If you search for the problem you will see that MANY many people have had the same problem and the manufacturer is not standing behind the product. They offer to repair the issue for $70 but thats almost half the cost of a new tripod.

I was able to find replacement clamps for $12 on the web but you have to take the whole leg apart to replace them. When I did I found that while only one clamp was broken all the way through, there were 3 others that were cracked.

It was never used in extreme conditions, and was only used to support a D90 so the weight on it was low.

Im shopping for a replacement from another vendor

Customer Review: Manfrotto 725B Digi Tripod
Summary: 5 Stars

This Tripod is quite a step up from the tripods I've used in the past.
It is constructed very well and all of the locking clamps are very secure.
The Ball Head is a really neat idea but is taking some time getting used to, but I think it'll work out alright. I take alot of segmented photos for panoramas and linning up each consecutive shot can be a little tricky, but over-all it's better than other tripods with the leveling bubbles which more often than not were rather frustrating. I also like the fact that the center post can be inverted, enabling the camera to get much closer to some ground level shots. The locking pin for the adapter plate lever is, (in my opinion only ), probably not necessary but never-the-less a very good idea. Over all this makes for a very good Tripod.

Customer Review: THIS TRIPOD GETS 5 STARS FOR CONSTRUCTION
Summary: 4 Stars

Its built strong, and sturdy!.Nice hard plastic legs that open with 3-clips for short to long. I think the coolest thing about this tripod is the dovetail plate.! So cool that when you release the pin you can swivel 360 degrees, up/down, right/left! This comes in very HANDY!
One or 2 small drawbacks: #1-The center pole that holds the camera, slips! If you put any pressure at all on it.
Not very taught. this pole goes up & down for length and has a red clip, to hold it, but it still can be pushed down or up very easily..
Also, there is nothing on this tripod to help you level it, so attch'ing your camera can be crooked, so be careful..not a huge hinderance though.
Overall, 4-stars..given for contruction,looks,durability..this is no CHEAP LOOKING TRIPOD, its very nice
