Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Manfrotto 486RC2 Compact Ball Head with RC2 Rapid Connect SystemCustomer Review: Good for What it Does Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great and affordable all-purpose ball head. Best used with shorter lenses, although it can handle the weight of larger ones. I used it with a Canon 5D and 100-400L attached, but it's a bit unwieldy with that load. Note: it is not for panoramas. Get the 486MGRC2 if you want that additional option.
Customer Review: Not bad, but a little stiff Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this so I could move my video camera around while recording action, but it is either too tight and jerks, or too loose and I may as well be holding it freehand. If I were taking still pictures, I would absolutely love it.
Customer Review: Best Value for a Ball Head Summary: 5 Stars
This is clearly the best value for a Ball Head on the market. I've used many and nothing out there comes even close as far as value. This head is beefy enough for a 300 f2.8 yet it'll work great on a big Joby.
Customer Review: Reliable quality Summary: 5 Stars
Just confirming what all the others have said: this is an excellent ball head. It's maybe a bit on the heavy side, but that's the price you pay for stability. Excellent precision engineering.
Customer Review: Awesome head. Summary: 5 Stars
Very sturdy, quick release works beautifully. it holds my D40 with my 55-200 VR Lens + Sb-600 speedlight at any angle with no issues.
i highly reccommend this.
