Customer Review: No experience --this was sooooo easy to use!
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased the Magellan Maestro 4000 to use on vacation. We traveled from south of New Orleans to Gatlinburg. The machine worked great and really kept me on track. It announces when you are 2 miles from an intersecting highway or your destination, when you are 1/2 mile from it, then pings when you reach the intersection, or when you have reached your destination it announces that. The Maestro also tells you to stay in the lane you are traveling in or which lane to get in.

I used it to go everywhere on vacation and it never was wrong. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a GPS unit.

Great price, graphics, and so easy to use!

Customer Review: Update Problems!
Summary: 3 Stars

Got my 4000 a few months ago. Works great so far but you should check the route it has chosen before you head out. On one occassion it took me the long way, which could have been the fastest based upon speed limits. When I tried to update I got a "file error, cold boot and retry". Followed all directions, tried on two different computers and still the same. Called tech support and no luck. I suggested they have a center where you could send the unit for updates and that they could charge for the service. Still trying to update, no luck. My thought is to send the unit back for warrenty repair as it will not update. Let them figure out the problem.

Customer Review: Great Help
Summary: 5 Stars

I just purchased a second unit to give my husband. He gave me a hard time about buying one in the first place but after using it while on vacation this summer (in Arizona) he agrees that it completely saved our trip. We were able to rerout easily and it helped us judge time and distance between long distance sites.

Now, he is getting one for an early birthday present before our travel soccer season starts with the two of us going different directions with our kids each weekend.

I highly suggest this unit. It was easy to program, find alternate routes and keep us able to enjoy our trips!

Customer Review: Ain't Perfect, but, close

Magellan Maestro 4000 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator
The box comes with nearly all you will need - except a well written manual. However, much of the operation is intuitive and once I figured out how to save addresses to the address list (you have to ask for a route to that address) everything went very smooth. I am quite pleased with my purchase.

I'd recommend this to any of my friends unless they were going to use it strictly as a "portable" for hiking - it's a little large for that.

Customer Review: Just about accurate
Summary: 4 Stars

I like this GPS so far. It is almost accurate. Seems to be .1-.3 tenths of a mile off when approaching destinations or turns, yet it's close enough that you know you have arrived at your destination or the turn you are about to make. When on the interstate it will tell exactly if you are to make a left or right hand exit. I can't complain about it all for the price I paid. I would recommend it to anyone. When you turn your car off it has a sleep mode to it, and will prompt you to continue on battery or put into the sleep mode. During trips if you make a wrong turn it will recalculate the route for you.
