PRO Flight Multi Panel by Saitek
Been using the multiplanel for a few weeks now...here is a very honest review...
I think the over all build quality is very good indeed....
#The Selector knob was very hard when it came out of the box but is getting usable everyday...I thinks its better that way than having a floopy knob that requires surgeon like precision to work..:)
#Even though the setting knob had two grips both inner knob and outer knob work together...this is very frustrating to dial in huge values like in the altitude selector...
Saitek should have had the small knob make small precise increments and the big knob huge increments....what ends up happening is that all your setting values are done through the planes panel instead...nullifying the need for the multipanel completely...
#I noticed in the advertising picture that they have an extra button called crs but in the panel I received its missing.
#As long as you are flying only using VOR1/NAV1 its great...the moment u need to switch to VOR2 u can forget autopilot....
since the panel has no option to switch between nav1/nav2(unless ur airplane does..) for AutoPilot you are stuck with having to go into heading hold and then quickly tune NAV1 radio to your 2nd VOR frequency and change the OBS/CRS heading as required...
NAV2 and VOR2 become vestigial organs?gadgets :( I wish Saitek would add a switch that allows u to choose if AP is following NAV1 or NAV2...this would make this a superior product indeed.
#The most annoying bug is ...every once in a while the knob stops responding...and you end up having to jump start it by changing values from the aircraft panel...after which the knobs work normally till it bugs up again...
#Even though the trim wheel works upside down...in fs2004(rolling down trims elevators down=nose down) its very smooth and relieves u of constant button pressing for trim...this is a very very useful feature...
so over all...even though this makes a snazzy addition to your flight simming setup...but....it doesn't really add too much functionality in a good way for you to completely get rid of in game panel operations...
so I would say its easily quite overpriced for the functionality it adds....
