Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech mm50 Portable Speaker System for iPod (White)

Customer Review: (3.5 stars) Logitech mm50 iPod speakers
Summary: 3 Stars

Pro:

- The speakers were of great quality. They delivered a high volume without that much distortion.
- The speaker felt pretty solid and didn't have that flimsy style like other iPod speakers.
- You can't beat the price (from Amazon at least) for such a good sound quality.

Con:

- Despite how the speakers felt solid they have these 2 dinky little legs to hold it up (that fold out) that broke off. I have no clue if mine was just a defective product; but it upset me nonetheless.
- The bass quality was lacking.
- For some reason when I would dock my iPod the menus would take a long time to flip through and my iPod would also sometimes randomly freeze (again, defective product maybe?)
- The battery charge didn't really hold. As the battery drained the sound quality would diminish.

All in all:

Good speakers, definitely recommended. My friend just got the black one the other day and we compared and his sounds great. An absolutely great buy for the price.

Customer Review: Pretty good for what they are

Initially I purchased the Altec IM5s due to the size and ability to replace the batteries on extended trips away from power. I got them home, and decided they didn't sound nearly as good as the MM50 that I heard in the store (there was no display for the IM5s). I went back and bought the MM50s and last night listened to both side by side comparing the two. Ultimately I'm keeping the MM50 b/c it does sound better than the IM5s. The rechargeable battery and size are a tradeoff in comparison, but I think the sound is worth it. In overall volume, the two products are essentially the same. The Altec's are a little deeper sounding in the midrange, but they also have a tendency to show more low end distortion at lower volumes than the MM50s. For the size and portability I'm happy w/ the product. I wouldn't go so far as to say that it sounds "outstanding" like some of the other reviews but it's acceptable. I'm definitely not replacing the old-school Snells in my living room anytime soon, but I'm looking forward to traveling w/ the MM50s.

Customer Review: Pop it in and go

I purchased the mm50 from another soldier who I replaced in Iraq. The unit I received has been dropped, dragged around, shipped across the world several times, and is covered in dust most of the time, but I have been so impressed with its overall quality and performance that I went out and purchased the newer model for my wife to use at home.

In terms of sound quality, I found that the dock did an incredible job at projecting excellent sound quality over the din of computer fans and constant activity in what amounts to a reception area for our main office. The volume has a decent range and I have yet to notice any distortion. The battery has worked well to keep the unit playing throughout our copious power outages. We have used this dock with almost every iPod model made to date and have had no issues. It was one of the few units that we have used in our office that successfully charges the iTouch and iPhone.

I would recommend this unit for anyone looking for a simple, easy to use iPod dock.

I purchased this item at the apple store. The clerk really sold it to me, stating that the speakers were superior to the ihome system. I'm very disappointed with the sound quality. I purchased it to listen to my audio books. I often have to raise the volume to the highest level just to hear the audio, but then I get a terrible screeching noise. This noise is not part of the audio. It sounds fine on my headphones or my larger boom box. Also, I cannot play music with the logitech speakers. There is absolutely no bass at all. It just sounds downright horrible. Furthermore, sometimes the stupid device turns on for no reason (once in the middle of the night). And when I charge it, at times, it doesn't take a full charge. This was a total waste of money. I bought it to listen to audio books in the car, so I wouldn't have to use headphones and risk getting pulled over. Well, I'm back to my headphones. I don't know if the ihome is any better, but save your money with this device.

Customer Review: Very versatile!!!

I did a lot of shopping around for an iPod speaker system that I could use in my office. This is THE one! It's small enough to easily fit on my desk. I love the fact that I can play it either plugged into the wall, or off the battery...and it charges my iPod while it plays! I can unplug it and move it wherever I want in my office. Before I leave for the day, I just plug it in and recharge it. The next morning, it's ready to go all over again. Oh....and it sounds great even at low volume, which was a concern since I use it at work, (think of Milton of Office Space..."played at a reasonable volume"). With the remote, I can quickly pause or adjust the volume if someone comes into my office or if I need to get on the phone. I have the Bose system at home, and this one isn't as good, (how could it be?), but it's definitely good enough. Some hard-core audiophile could probably rip apart the sound quality, but it works fine for me. Trust me....pick this thing up!
