These speakers are incredibly amazing. Before this I had the jbl on stage, which were also incredibly good. But I wanted something that I can play without having to plug into a power outlet and would work on rechargable batteries. I didnt want one in which I would have to put in batteries myself(that is a pain) I did alot of research and read a bunch of reviews and im glad I purchased these speakers. Most of the reviews about the sound quality is true. The speakers have a very rich sound and good bass also, obviously not thumping bass for which you would need a huge subwoofer!! Although the bass im getting out of these speakers was unexpected. Without a doubt I would say that these speakers have the same sound quality as the jbl on stage, and are truly portable(can be played without a power outlet, I love that feature). The only downside is the remote which requires a line of sight. Its not a big deal for me. The main thing I was looking for was sound quality!Customer Review: Has some problems

I have had two of these, and they both seem to have the same problems. They work great with a dockable iPod, but do not work well on battery power when plugged into a laptop or other non-docking device, like an iPod shuffle. Even with a full charge, they shut off after about 30 minutes when plugged into my laptop. Subsequent pushing of the "on" button allows for 2-5 minutes of playing time. I can push the on button repeatedly to make it play for 2-5 minutes many more times, so it's obviously not a dead battery issue. There seems to be a problem with the on/off switch. This problem does not occur when the unit is plugged into an outlet.
Another related issue is that it sometimes randomly turns on, which can drain the battery.
Having said that, it works great on battery power with my 4G clickwheel ipod, as long as I don't have the volume up too high. And it appears to be the only portable speaker system with a rechargeable battery.

Although the sound is NOT the equivalent of the Bose or iM7, it is indeed very good. It cannot produce the pronounced bass of the iM7 I returned (due to a broken door), but it does have decent bass, acceptable volume, and a generally good sound for such a small system.
The portability factor more than makes up for this, since if I want huge sound for a party, I have plenty of real speakers hooked up to my receiver. The chargeable battery is a great feature, since I no longer have to hunt around for eight D batteries (for the iM7) when my kids want to take the music outside. Also the remote is much better than the iM7.
The value of this product is also outstanding. I paid $100 less for it than for the iM7. It comes with a great carrying case to protect it. I don't care that the adapter doesn't fit, because if I am using it for travel, it would always be packaged with other luggage anyway. Overall, awesome product.

LET ME FIST START BY SAYING THAT YOU SHOULDNT PURCHASE THIS ITEM AT AN IPOD APPLE STORE AS THE PRICE IS ABOUT $50 MORE THAN OTHER DISCOUNT STORES...THAT SAID I DO OWN THIS UNIT AND I MUST SAY THIS IS AN EXCELLENT SPEAKER SYSTEM...I HAD THE ABILITY TO TEST ABOUT 15 DIFFERENT SPEAKER SYSTEMS WHEN I PURCHASED THIS ONE... AND NONE OF THE OTHERS WHICH MOST WERE MORE EXPENSIVE EVEN CAME CLOSE TO THE SAME SOUND QUALITY AS THE MM50...
I PURCHASED IT IN BLACK TO MATCH MY IPOD'S COLOR...THE SOUND QUALITY IS EXCELLENT FOR MY TASTE ALTHOUGH THERE ARE NO SEPERATE CONTROLS FOR BASS AND TREBLE...I REALLY LIKE THE FACT THAT I CAN UNPLUG THE UNIT AND CARRY IT ANYWHERE AND RUN THE SYSTEM OFF THE BUILT IN BATTERY...I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND THIS UNIT BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A COUPLE IMPROVEMENTS, SUCH AS A SLEEP TIMER OPTION, A MUTE BUTTON AND A DIMMER SWITCH FOR THE POWER BUTTON WHICH IS VERY BRIGHT IN A LOW LIT ROOM...HOPE THIS WAS HELPFUL FOR YOU

I was fortunate enough to preview several different types of speaker systems for the iPod by taking my iPod to the Apple Store in Indianapolis. These speakers were head and shoulders above the competition in this price range. The next closest competitor was twice the price. I have since purchased these speakers and was pleasantly surprised to discover the nice case that comes included. The legs fold out and the unit is very shallow, fitting easily on the narrowest shelf. It just looks nice too.
I was also happy to see that it came with a remote. My *only* criticism of this product is the remote. There is no ability to navigate through the menus. If they had asked me (why should they? I'm just an average Joe), I would have made the remote look and navigate just like a shuffle (like Apple did with the remote for the new iMacs). Overall though I have to say I was stunned by how good these speakers performed.
