Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Wireless Music System for PC

Customer Review: Simple, looks nice, but some minor issues.
Summary: 3 Stars

First off, the Logitech Wireless Music system consists of three items, a USB adapter for your computer, a receiver for the tv/stereo, and a remote. The USB adapter is a little bulky, so you'll likely have to use the included usb extender if you have multiple USB devices already plugged into your computer. Second is a small receiver that plugs into your stereo system / TV. The only way to connect your music system into your home theater system or tv is via stereo outputs. No digital coax/optical. The third item is the remote control. The remote emits a very weak signal to the music system receiver. Its common for me to press the "Next" button two - four times before it registers with the device. At first I thought this might be a distance or LOS (Line of Sight) issue, but the problem still exists even from a couple feet away. The last and maybe the most problematic issue is that the sound does not play on the computer while the USB adapter is plugged into the computer, so you must unplug the adapter from the computer when you want to hear sound from your computer speakers. All the devices shipped have a very nice black finish that matches well with my current livingroom setup. The music quality is very impressive compared to FM tuners such as the iTrip/IPod. Overall, I enjoy my Logitech Music System. The quality sound and the convenience of wireless connectivity outweigh the problems in my book.

Customer Review: For $60 This Wireless Music System Is The One To Beat
Summary: 4 Stars

Granted there are hick-ups with microwaves and certain portable phones, however the other 90% of the time this little wonder works fantastically. Setup is a snap. Plug it in and start-up your favorite media player. Boom. You've got audio coming from your main system. The limits of the remote (around 6'-8' useful range) and the inability to play through multiple base stations simultaneously are worth considering. If you want to walk from room to room around your house/apartment you should look at spending more on a non-bluetooth system.

With that said, the system preforms as well as most reviews on Amazon detail. The stereo RCA-outs limit your experience of "true" digital surround if you are watching a movie or listening to certain albums. However, unless you are an audiophile (which you would undoubtedly not be looking at this system) the stereo pushed through a simulated surround sound feature on most modern receivers will perform nicely.

Pros:
Price
Ease of set-up
Comes with a remote
Expandable with multiple base stations

Cons:
Limited Set-up for multiple base stations
Drops and hick-ups when blue-tooth signal is compromised

While not for the audiophile or those looking for whole house room to room music; this product is great for those looking for a budget wireless digital music system for their PC.

Customer Review: Solid product, but not many features
Summary: 4 Stars

I wanted to be able to play my music elsewhere than just my computer, so I bought this with a rebate awhile back. It worked great and wasn't hard to set up at all. The software was a bit strange. It would allow you to channel sound from your whole computer, or just WMP, or just iTunes, etc. But if you set it to play WMP through this device and then got on your computer a week later and tried to play music in WMP, nothing would come out because it was being channeled through to the device. Caused me some confusion.

Anyway, the only reason I didn't like this product is because I couldn't look through my music through it. You can only set up your music player on your computer with playlists or whatever and then just skip tracks through this device.

It worked well, no problems with reception, even with a wireless router in the same house. The remote was handy as well.

If you want a more full-featured music streamer, check into the Linksys Wireless-B Music System WMLS11B. I bought it a couple weeks ago, and it is SWEET! You can access all your music from your computer by artist, album, etc., and you can access hundreds of internet radio stations from the unit! Wow!

Customer Review: Dont Mix it other Wireless Items...

I have owned my Wireless Music System for PC for about 6 months and I have come to the conclusion that my Wireless Music System for PC (which I think is Bluetooth technology) is only usable in my house if I shut down my 802.11G wireless computer network AND be willing to accept what I call "cutting out" when our microwave oven is in use. Also I never did get the remote to control Winamp, but I considered that a minor problem that I would address after I fixed the BIG "cutting out" problem.
I spent many weeks working with the Logitech tech help department via e-mail. After performing weeks of tests to eliminate possible causes, I finally confirmed that the reason my music was cutting in and out was wireless interference between anything that transmits on the 2.4GHZ band and the Wireless Music System for PC. The end, no way to fix it. The Logitech tech help department persisted with me to help solve my problem, but after we all learned that shutting down the network and turning off the microwave completely fixed my problem they were done, no offers for refund and no products available to correct the issue. This made me think twice about the electronics industry standards that usually prevent a company from designing a product that has a VERY limited application.

Customer Review: Easy, Low Cost Problem Solver
Summary: 5 Stars

The problem it solved:
This product easily and completely answered my need to wirelessly connect my computer's audio output to the professional audio mixer in my music studio. I decided to try a wireless connection after I found too much noise and hum when I tried to run 20 feet of high quality analog cables to make that connection.

Setup:
It took longer to open the shipping box than it did to set up this system. Logitech includes an RCA Plug-to-RCA plug cable, so I just used it to connect the Logitech receiver's RCA jacks to the RCA input jacks in my mixer, lit up iTunes and it worked. The receiver also has a 1/8" mini-phone jack output, too. No need for the included software as I want all the sound to be sent to the Logitech transmitter.

Controls on the receiver unit and the remote:
It's very handy to be able to control iTunes using the transport and volume controls on the little receiver unit and even better to have the same controls on an infrared remote that I can use from another part of the studio.

Reliability:
I've been using this setup daily for about a month with no hitch.

Bottom line:
I highly recommend it.
