Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Wireless Keyboard K340

Customer Review: Perfect semi-compact keyboard.
Summary: 5 Stars

This keyboard is great for someone who needs to maximize their desk real-estate. The layout is very good and very reminiscent of a laptop keyboard plus the number pad. It has nice heft to it which I like of most of my electronics and feels like a good quality piece. It has its own individual power switch that clicks on and off with an authoritative snick. The key presses however are in between a full size keyboard and the softer laptop keys, somewhat noisy but not annoyingly so.

There are some minor inconveniences however: The multimedia keys require the use of the function key so a two handed operation is a must and when things get dark they are very difficult to find. The worst thing about the special function keys however is that the power function is right next to the volume controls. When visibility is low one will inadvertently press the power function while trying to raise the volume and cause the computer to shut off/hibernate/sleep. Thus, it is very annoying.

So, why does this keyboard still get five stars from me? The unifying receiver. It is tiny and allows the use of multiple Logitech devices with one receiver. I use this keyboard coupled with the marathon mouse and it is a match up made in heaven. Furthermore I use these devices on my laptop that sits in a stand to bring the screen to eye level to create a desktop like experience. Since USB ports are limited having the savings of one USB port is great. I have not experienced any of the durability problems that some have exhibited from the receiver cap when removing and replacing them from the USB port. However, since I did get a unifying Logitech mouse I have a spare receiver if such a case should arise. So far after months however, everything is holding up great.

Customer Review: A Very Good Keyboard
Summary: 4 Stars

The K340 is a very good keyboard. As with all things keyboard it all comes down to personal tastes and preferences.

PROS:
1.) Your typical keyboard layout without the middle section where the arrow keys are typically located.
2.) The wireless capability is very nice and I have not had any issues with stuttering, delays or repeating characters.
3.) I like the glossy case as it gives it a more expensive look.

CONS:
1.) A little bit heavier than I expected (perhaps I just got used to Apple's wireless keyboard).
2.) In my case, I wish they got rid of the numeric keys. I never use them.
3.) I wish the arrow keys are a little bit bigger as I use them more for general typing and games.

Overall, I would recommend this keyboard to those who are trying to go wireless and save desk space. Just watch out for those arrow keys. They are smaller than a typical keyboard.

NOTE: If you have two Logitech devices that both use the newer Unifying receiver, you will need to download the Unifying software before you can use one receiver for both devices. This keyboard and the M570 Logitech trackball did not come with that software. But once I downloaded the software, I was able to pair both devices to use only one Logitech Unifying receiver.

Customer Review: Good for what it is
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great keyboard for many. I bought this keyboard from the reviews and cannot blame anyone but myself for not liking it. But in case there is someone else out there like me, let me get out a few facts. This is not a slim keyboard, in fact I was surprised it was so thick after seeing the pictures. This keyboard has plunger style keys which for a person that only uses scissor style keyboards was a big disappointed. The keyboard has semi-flat keycaps which is true but I think the keyboard is so thick to make up for it not having the normal height keycaps (just a guess).

Why did I give this a 5 if it wasn't what I wanted? First of all, the unifying technology from logitech is great. I already had a unifying receiver installed from a logitech mouse so when I got the keyboard out of the box I had it working in literally seconds. The keyboard is well made and feels sturdy. The key action for this plunger style keyboard is very good... but thats like saying the ford fiesta is fast when compared to other cars under $13K. lol. The gloss black did not seem to be a problem for me. People might need to wash their hands a little more often.

I used this keyboard for a few days and they gave it to someone at work who is still really enjoying it.

Customer Review: Excellent keyboard, comfortable, compact
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this keyboard to use with my existing Logitech wireless mouse and USB adapter, and I'm very satisfied. Key feel is springy and responsive, the layout is excellent, and the size is very compact and slim. I've had it about a six weeks, so I can't comment on battery life yet, but installation was a cinch. "Installing" the keyboard was as simple as turning it on - the adapter automatically recognized it and I started typing immediately with no problems.

As another reviewer noted, the keys have a red background. When I first read this, I thought that meant it was back-lit - it's not. The surface behind the keys is just red, which actually makes the keys visually stand out very nicely.

Another reviewer noted that this keyboard doesn't have a place to store the USB adapter, but I found that there's a little slot for it where the batteries belong. The drawback is obviously that you'll have to remove the battery cover whenever you want to put the adapter away, but I leave it stowed and use the shared adapter from my mouse. Definitely a real plus with these Logitech products! Overall, highly recommended for anyone looking for a compact full-function wireless keyboard, but especially for anyone already using other Logitech devices.

Customer Review: What took them so long
Summary: 5 Stars

This new compact wireless keyboard is one nice unit. It works very well and is more compact than your typical full sized keyboard. I'm glad I bot it. I tried the new Microsoft ARC before this. It looked nice, but the grey keyboard lettering was too difficult to see, Plus, it lacked a numbers pad. This Logitech uses the new tiny unifing receiver, and the same reveiver works this keyboard, as well as my Logitech M705 wireless mouse, (another excellent item). There are several minor drawbacks, however. 1.) the unit lacks flipdown rear feet or legs, to raise the back end of the keyboard, for a more natural typing feel. Easily overcome with two super jumbo selfadhesive stick on rubber foot-like bumpers. 2.) sometimes my F2 key, (programed to open my Windows mail), fails to work. Whether it the fault of the keyboard or Microsoft Vista, I'm not sure. All in all, if you are looking for a more compact wireless keyboard this is the way to go. Oh Yeah, typing is fairly comfortable and the keys, while not silent, are reasonably quiet. This unit is not at any of the office suppy stores, or Best Buy, but Amazon has it and Amazon has been a great source for ordering on line! Any questions and I'd be happy to answer them.
