Customer Review: Solid addition to my laptop
Summary: 4 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
After two years of working with a touchpad on my laptop, I was finally able to get a wireless, optical mouse for it.

First things first with this mouse. It is very easy to install on my Windows based laptop, it sounds like there are a few problems with MAc based machines. The CD that comes in the package is simple and even the technology challenged (me) can works this with no problems.

The mouse is about 2/3 the size of a home mouse. Yet, it fits in the hand nicely and doesn't feel cheap. The scroll wheel is very responsive and is placed perfectly. The left and right click buttons are equally responsive.

I do have a comple minor complaints about this mouse however.

The front/bac buttons are placed in an area where it is awkward to use. I would have liked to see them on the right side of the mouse and more towards the middle to allow useing them with the thumb.

The package also comes with a mesh pouch to transport the mouse. I would have liked to see a sturdier case that offers some protection to the mouse when in my aptop bag. As it is, it can be easily damaged if the user is not careful.

Some surprises.

I Really like how small the receiver is. In addition, the tiny receiver can be stored inside the mouse (next to the batteries) to prevent loss. That is a very nice touch.

I also like the addition of a receiver to enable me to use this mouse on my home computer as well.

Even for gaming, this mouse does a reasonable job in terms of use ad functionality. With the exception of the misplaced front/back buttons, this is a very good mouse and one I can easily see myself recommending to friends and family.

Customer Review: You Don't Have to be a Road Warrior to Love This Mouse
Summary: 5 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I'm in love again. With the Logitech VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks, I've still got all the features I want (works on just about every surface imaginable, cordless, precision pointing for graphics). But now I have none of the qualities I didn't want.

I can use this mouse indefinitely because when the battery dies, I will simply replace it. No more throwing out the mouse with the dead battery. And the smaller size is a big plus for someone with small hands like me.

In addition, the VX Nano takes up very little room in my notebook case, so now I have a road warrior mouse. I didn't even attempt to cart the clunky MX Laser with its cradle.

I appreciate the carrying case that Logitech has packed with this mouse. Turn off the mouse, zip it in its case, and I'm ready to go.

I was happy before, but now I'm delighted.

Five stars and then some. Thanks, Logitech! And thanks, Amazon!

UPDATE: November 17, 2007

Having used this mouse consistently for almost two months, I have decided to buy a second one for use with my desktop.

Why?

My experience is that the small size of this mouse reduces my carpel tunnel syndrome considerably. A day with my large mouse leads to a night of pain, while a day with the nano mouse leads to a pain-free night.

While I understand that the mouse was designed to be used on the road with a notebook, it does work just as well with my desktop as any other mouse I've tried.

If carpel tunnel bothers you, try this mouse. I'd be interested to learn whether anyone else finds relief using this much smaller mouse.

Customer Review: compact, good features

I had been using a Logitech MX 400 corded laser mouse with my laptop--but the VX Nano cordless will be a good replacement. The mouse feels comfortable--a concern which previously had meant that I had bought full-sized mice, even for my laptop. My primary laptop use is for my lectures: I need to connect the laptop to a projector. Between the power supply connector, the serial link to the projector, and the corded mouse I was having to fuss with a lot of wires in a small space--so the wireless mouse is welcome!

The Logitech mice in general feel right--the VX Nano is a lot smaller than my MX 400, and for the hand of an oldster like me, still seems fine. There are 3 helpful Internet buttons, so it's good for browsing. Even the mouse wheel has a rubberized circumference. Overall, it makes me think of a new car that has lots of good features that surprise you--convenient storage nooks, well-thought-out grips, and the like. I may have to get one of these for my desktop at home!

The one problem I sometimes have centers around the tiny nano-receiver. With my corded mouse it's obvious to me that I have to unplug the mouse before the laptop goes back in its case. But there have been several occasions where I've forgotten to unplug the nano-receiver: in my classroom I unplug the power supply and unplug the serial link to the overhead projector, but not the nano-receiver. There has never been any actual difficulty leaving the nano-receiver plugged in--it just makes me a bit nervous that I might snap the receiver off accidentally, althoug with a normal usb receiver that would be much more likely. All in all, a well-thought-out comfortable device.

Customer Review: This is one Great, Little Mouse!

I just got the Nano today to replace a Microsoft Cordless Notebook Mouse that I had for several years. What a difference! Well worth the price IMHO!

Logitech always makes quality products and I have always loved Logitech mice. They always seem to be just right for my needs. This one works like a charm.

I did have to make a call to Tech Support, as some of the directions are confusing. For example the scroll wheel, if set to the default settings, will only scroll from side to side, in a limited number of programs. Outlook Express apparently is one, in which it will only scroll vertically. It worked fine in all directions in Word. I thought it was my settings, but it is simply the programs that you use it in. I only learned that by calling Tech Support.

Otherwise it is delightful to use. So big deal if it doesn't scroll horizontally in all programs.

I have small, arthritic hands, and this is a wonderfully comfortable fit for me. I did try it out first, in Circuit City, prior to ordering it from Amazon. A mouse has to feel right and you must be able to try it first.

I was not terribly impressed with the attitude of the Tech Rep that I spoke with, although at least he was in Arizona and not Bangladesh as most seem to be these days!!!! I am quite computer savvy and told him that any number of times, but he continued to "talk down" to me as though I knew nothing. Oh well! I filled out the questionnaire that they emailed me and did not give him very high marks for "his help", which was not all that "Tech Savvy!!!!". LOL

Update: I have been using this mouse for quite awhile now and the one thing I dislike is that it says that your batteries are "critical" long before they actually do die. I use rechargables that need to totally die before I recharge them, so this makes it all the more annoying.

Customer Review: an excellent choice

First off let me admit that I'm very attached to my Kensington trackball mouse. I love that thing! I have that for my PC but needed a wireless mouse (I hate the navigation controls on the laptop itself) for my laptop. I first looked at Kensington but ended up sticking with the Logitech VX Nano. I am now a huge fan of this cordless mouse for several reasons. (1) Other brands have much larger receiver/USB connections and using your laptop anywhere else but on a flat surface can cause problems since the receiver sticks out a bit. I've snapped off bulkier receiver/USB connectors by mistake and ruined the internal workings of the thing. A costly mistake. This little beauty has the smallest USB connection I've seen and I LOVE this feature. Since it's so small you can leave the receiver in the USB connection and forget about it (it's so easy to lose a bigger receiver that you constantly have to connect and unconnect to your laptop, which would make a wireless mouse useless). (2) This mouse was really easy to install. I just put the included batteries in and placed the receiver in a USB port and after a moment, presto, the mouse worked. This appealed to my lazy side as it allowed me to bypass the whole cd installation process (which requires connecting the correct driver to my laptop, etc.). (3) The scroll function is very sensitive but I like the speed. (4) The design of the mouse itself is very comfortable under hand. This is key if you spend any length of time on the computer. Although the sleek design is appealing, it did not factor into my decision to keep it. I highly recommend this mouse over others on the market.
