Customer Review: Perfect feature set marred by Logitech build quality

This came SO close to being the perfect mouse. The ergonomics are great, the tiny receiver makes it good for desktops or netbooks alike, and the frictionless scroll wheel is something that really needs to be on every mouse, ever. But there are two gigantic, ridiculous flaws.
1: The left and right scroll wheel tilt doesn't work in XP unless you install Logitech's Setpoint driver, which is so buggy as to be worse than useless. Every time you hit the forward or back buttons on the mouse, gibberish ASCII characters are entered in any text fields on whatever website you're browsing. It's insane, and about five minutes of it will be enough to convince you to uninstall Setpoint and just live without sidescrolling. Fortunately, Vista and 7 support the mouse completely without needing to muck about with Setpoint at all.
2: The switches are of bad quality and wear out fast. The right button started failing to register clicks after just 2 months of use. I've seen mice that cost $3 last longer than that. If you buy this thing, make sure you get a receipt.

I've gone through quite a number of mice and learned long ago to stick with Logitech. I bought this mouse for a laptop that I didn't want to mess up the USB port on when I move it around. The receiver is tiny and can be left in at all times. It's straight up plug & play, although you can use Logitech's software for greater customization. I currently have it plugged into my desktop and use it (with Input Director) for both the desktop and laptop together. It works better than my gaming mouse.Customer Review: This nano receiver rocks!

I bought this mouse mainly because of its small receiver. I move around with my laptop a lot. When I used a wireless mouse with regular size receiver before, every now and then I hit the receiver by mistake and it damaged the USB port. Now, with this super small receiver, I don't have this problem anymore.
I have been using this mouse for about a year. So far I don't have any problem with it. Since the receiver is so small, I simply leave it at the USB port all the time, even when put the laptop to my bag. I love the scrolling wheel. It is so smooth and it feels good when I need to scroll down multiple pages fast -- just simply give it a good spin! I doubt I will buy any new mouse in the future without a scrolling wheel like that.
Before buying this mouse, I had been using the Logitech VX Revolution for a year or two. Comparing these 2 mouses, I have to say the VX Revolution is more comfortable to use. The design is more ergonomic and my thumb could rest comfortably on the side. Even though I have relatively small hands for a guy, the VX Nano is still a bit too small for me. I hope in the future Logitech will have a mouse with ergonomic design like VX Revolution, with a nano receiver.

Great product. Small little nano dongle can be left in the laptop in transit because its so small, you can barely tell its there. Mouse is accurate and good battery life. Amazon did me right with the price.
