Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech V470 Bluetooth Cordless Laser Mouse (Blue)Customer Review: Great little mouse! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this for use as an external mouse when I got my new laptop with built-in Bluetooth (a Dell Vostro 1500). There are many things I like about this rodent:
1) Since I'm left handed, I want a symmetrical mouse, one whose shape is not formed for the right hand. This mouse qualifies (unlike a lot of Logitech mice).
2) Although it is on the smaller side, it still feels comfortable in my large hand. I have hands that can easily palm a basketball, so many travel mice are unusable for me because they're too dadgum small!
3) Laser precision, and no annoying red light. Nuff said.
4) An on/off switch on the underside so you can turn it off, throw it in the laptop bag, and not have to worry about it bumping up against something, clicking, and waking up the laptop. This also helps conserve the batteries (see #5 below).
5) It's pretty miserly with battery usage. I've had this mouse about six weeks as I write this review, using it an average of about two hours a day, and I'm still on the original Duracells that came in the package.
If you want to use the side scrolling features of this mouse, you'll have to install LogiTech's SetPoint software. All basic mouse functions can otherwise be handled by the Windows default drivers.
Overall, this is a good product. I wouldn't have this mouse on my primary gaming rig, but that's not what it's designed for. It's designed for the way I'm using it...as an alternative to the trackpad on my laptop.
Customer Review: Good... With a Good Mousepad Summary: 4 Stars
The feel of the mouse is just right for me (your own mileage may vary), as I've grown fond of mice with higher arched surfaces. The reaction to motion is good as well; the mouse will consistently in the direction you intend it to, instead of moving at some odd angle as I've seen some wireless mice do. Overall, I'm as satisfied with it as I am with the typical Logitech peripheral (that is, very much so).
However, if you intend to use it as a travel mouse, make sure you bring along a good mouse pad to ensure it's responsive. The "performance laser" of the mouse just doesn't perform very well on a good number of surfaces, including wood grain and fabric. Exactly what makes a good mousing surface for this mouse can be a bit of trial-and-error as well.
I've found that a random glossy magazine with a female model on the cover actually worked fairly well, while the slightly rougher wooden table surface as well as my textbook produced horrible responses. A solid black fabric mouse pad worked decently, though the pointer would slow down at certain points - possibly due to dust - and finer movements tended to be frustratingly difficult to make. My latest mouse pad (one of the decorated 3M ones, has good color contrast and a rough texture) seems to be perfect for the mouse. Very odd.
The bottom line is that it's a very comfortable mouse to use, and has great detection when it's on a surface it likes. It does not like very many surfaces.
Customer Review: Bad news: it failed. Good news: Logitech promises to send a new one. Summary: 3 Stars
I bought one of these on January 7.
I liked the fact that no software had to be installed to run it on an Apple Powerbook as an ordinary mouse [although I do understand that there are some features I may not be getting if I don't install the drivers]. I also do like the tactile feel of it, and the sound and feel of the buttons -- or at least I did [see below].
There's some good news, some bad news and some more good news. The good news is that the initial battery, two AA cells, lasted five months [used 8 hours per day at my work], which is about 50% longer than ordinary wireless mouses tend to run on one pair of AA cells. What I pay for that is the fact that if I don't use the mouse for several seconds it takes a brief time, perhaps a quarter second, to reestablish a connection. The bad news is that when I did replace the battery [with name-brand Duracell batteries] the battery seems to press against something inside the body of the mouse and now the left button is hard to depress. The additional good news is that I called customer support, waited on hold but for less than a minute, and they will be sending me a replacement without requiring me to send in the old one.
If this is the end of it, I'm happy [although not quite as happy as I would have been if it had never broken]. If this repeats I will be editing this review to remove some stars. If the replacement never comes, I'll be _really_ upset.

Customer Review: Compact, Comfortable and Very Functional Summary: 5 Stars
Recently, I've purchased the Samsung NC10 netbook. To take advantage of the netbook's built-in bluetooth capabilities, I also purchased this Logitech V470 mouse. There is no need for us to carry along a USB wireless adapter to operate this mouse. I think that is good thing because now I don't have anything protruding out of my USB ports while carrying around the netbook. Plus, I don't have to worry about keeping track of the USB adapter if I detach it from the port. The whole idea of having a netbook is to have a highly portable device so I like having to minimize the amount of items I have to take along with my computer.
The mouse has comfortable rubber sides which feels comfortable to hold. There is a on/off button at the bottom ot the mouse to save battery life when we're done using it. Though it's been only three weeks using this, I've experienced no issues with the mouse's accuracy or battery life. It's mouse wheel can be driven in four directions. scroll the browser screen up and down by rolling the mouse vertically. Move the browser screen sideways by pressing the wheel side to side.
This mouse is a very good product and I'm so glad that I've read other reviews here at Amazon prior to deciding on purchasing this item. Logitech V470 Bluetooth Cordless Laser Mouse - consider this model when making your purchasing decision on peripherals. It is a compact, functional and very functional mouse.
Customer Review: Could be better, could be worse Summary: 3 Stars
This is the second bluetooth mouse that I've tried (the other being the Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 Mac/Win) as a full-time mouse companion for my Apple BT keyboard. To its credit, the mouse maintains a connection better than the MSFT mouse (i.e. it reconnects at all), though as mentioned by other reviewers, it's definitely more sluggish to respond from sleep (and quicker to go to sleep) than the Apple counterparts. That said, the ergonomics are only slightly better than Apple's mice and my hands get cramped if I use it for more than a couple of hours in a row (i.e. heavy photo editing or similar).
Pros: bluetooth, portable, works, even comes with a bag.
Cons: Logitech software kills Growl - a known issue on their end which they have no intention of fixing. So you have to choose between growl working, or being able to customize the buttons/wheel (though OSX seems to do a decent enough of a job of this on its own - there are no fancy side buttons). As another reviewer mentioned, the black stuff on the side is coming off, which just feels unsettling, even if it is just cosmetic.
So overall? I'm still using it, though I can't say that I'm necessarily "happy" with it. It beats the competition, though that's an extremely low bar with few contenders. Maybe in a few years...
