Customer Review: scroll wheel is useless
Summary: 2 Stars

this mouse would of been great if not for two things and these two things are basically what a mouse is for... the first one is the mouse sensitivity and accuracy... the description says it is more precise and it outperforms other optical mice.... LIE!!!! my 10 dollar general electric mouse had better accuracy than this, especially when i am working in any CAD software, it is hard to pick snap points... (btw i did mess with the sensitivity settings to see if that would help... it did but the mouse is now to slow in order for it to be accurate.) and the thing that frustrates me the most which is why i only gave it 2 stars is that the wheel sux... and i mean it sux... sometimes it works just fine, but other times u have to press down really hard for it to sense it. other times you click the wheel once and it reads two clicks.(this is an annoyance when surfing the web because i use the wheel to open links as new tabs or to close tabs. and sometimes it either opens the link twice or closes more tabs than i want closed.) i would of been able to deal with the lower speed to be able to achieve better accuracy but the wheel is unacceptable. especially when working with applications in which the wheel is a necessity. i have been a faithful fan and customer of Logitech in the past but they really dropped the bomb on this one. this is a very frustrating mouse to use especially on auto cad which is the main reason i bought this for. evrerything else is great like the baterry life conectivity and looks but all that doesn't matter when the basic functions of a mouse dont even work properly.

Customer Review: Noticeable Lag
Summary: 1 Stars

I originally had a Microsoft 5000 bluetooth mouse which I didn't think was very good. So I bought this one and immediately noticed two things.

First, this Logitech mouse doesn't slide as smoothly across my desk as the Microsoft mouse. I don't use a mouse pad. The Microsoft mouse slid smoothly and felt great. This one felt like dragging your finger nails across a chalk board. The more I used it, the more I dreaded the feeling.

Second, there was an noticeable delay between when I moved the mouse and when the pointer moved on the screen. This was MOST irritating. I realize that Logitech specifies Broadcom/Widcomm hardware and stack, but Microsoft has no such restriction. I have ISSC hardware and Blue Soleil stack. I have what I have and there is no delay with the Microsoft mouse.

Other than that, I thought the Logitech mouse was better. I preferred the larger size, the AA batteries, the tilt wheel, the quiet turning wheel, and the shiny blue housing. I think the battery cover design is more rugged. The buttons definitely have a louder click, but I have no preference either way.

I tried installing the SetPoint software, but it made no difference regarding the lag. It did let me customize numerous other settings. The Microsoft mouse did not come with any software, nor did I see any on the web page specifically intended for that model, but Intellimouse software probably would work.

Bottom line, I'm going to choose bad instead of worse and go back to Microsoft until something better comes along.

Customer Review: Laggy with very poor DPI
Summary: 1 Stars

I'm using this mouse with Windows vista.

The Logitech V470 sleeps way too fast, making casual browsing (where you pause for 10 seconds or so e.g. reading a 3 sentence review of an item) and when you want to move the mouse again it "jumps" and lags because the mouse is waking from its sleep. I find it really irritating that I paid around $50 for a mouse that shows lag. (It may save power, but they should have made the sleep time either adjustable or longer)

The second problem I experienced is the DPI (think of it as a gauge to measure how accurate the mouse is when moving it around). First of all, no where online was i able to find the DPI of this mouse. The fact that Logitech fails to mention the DPI specification of this mouse makes me wonder why. I noticed that this mouse is not very accurate, and when compared to a 5-dollar cheap wired optical mouse, the 5-dollar mouse performed WAY better in accuracy. The V470 makes me feel like I'm using a very old mouse that used the tracking ball with lots of dust stuck inside. If a 5-dollar cheap optical mouse feels more accurate than this mouse (not taking lag into consideration), then there is some serious shortcomings in the V470.

I would not recommend this mouse at all. The only advantage is that it is wireless, but everything else falls below the poor performance level. I mainly use the mouse for internet browsing and I still find it irritating with lag and lack of accuracy. I would suggest searching for other alternatives.

Customer Review: Excellent function
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned this mouse for about 4 months and am very satisfied with it. The mouse has a very effective smart power sensor to preserve battery life, and an on/off switch to prevent gradual discharge. When turned back on, the mouse pairs with the computer again in seconds, and is very responsive (probably not enough for gaming, but enough for a serious user). I have never had a problem pairing it, and because it is bluetooth it does not require a dongle when used with a bluetooth equipped laptop (my primary motivation for purchasing the mouse)

There are only two things I do not like about this mouse:
- The 'set point' software causes windows to reset your pointer speed on every restart. The simple solution is to install the drivers, but then disable set-point from running on startup (you don't need it anyway)
- The grip/ texture on the sides of the mouse wears off rather quickly if you're not careful. I will admit that this is partly my fault, as I do not place it in its protective bag before returning it to my laptop case, but within the first month part of it began to peel off. If you care about the appearance and/or textured grip, be sure to place it in its little case religiously. That said, the top surface has held up to all the bouncing around in my bag without even a scratch to show for it.

Overall the mouse is very durable, and in spite of some minor flaws, I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cordless mouse for their bluetooth enabled computer.

Customer Review: Mac users: Don't install the software
Summary: 4 Stars

I have a Macbook Pro, (pre-unibody) running Leopard 10.5.6. When installing the software for this mouse, the installer found a newer version which I downloaded and installed. The mouse ran ok most of the time, but occasionally it would become unresponsive and lock up the menu bar, and a hard shutdown was the only way to get it back. I really like the mouse and didn't want to return it, so after searching forums online I decided to uninstall the software (it has its own uninstaller). Fortunately the Mac's native drivers can handle the mouse just fine for all its default functions: left-click, right-click, regular scrolling, side to side, fast scrolling and center button zoom. The only advantage the software offered was the ability to program the buttons to do specific functions. Since letting Leopard run the mouse, it has worked without problems.

Pros:
1-Great shape and size; larger than most notebook mice, but still very portable. Its shape conforms nicely to the hand.
2-Tracks on any surface, even skin.
3-On/off button to conserve batteries (which are included, along with carrying pouch).
4-It fits perfectly on the space below the keyboard and next to the trackpad on my Mac.

Cons:
1-Buggy drivers at least for the Mac.
2-Tracking lags a bit. I've gotten used to it, but someone who requires really fast or precise clicking, like in gaming, would hate this mouse.
3-If I put the Mac to sleep, the mouse sometimes takes a bit to wake up.
