Customer Review: Awesome mouse!
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this mouse the other day from Amazon (3/20/06 to be exact)after buying a Targus wireless mouse for my laptop from Best Buy and having to return it. First of all, the Targus mouse was absolutely AWFUL!! I bought it because it was on sale, and I really didn't want to spend too much. After it failed me miserably, I came here looking for reviews for other mice (the Targus one only got 2 1/2 stars, and I'm not sure it deserved that many!). I saw the great reviews for this one, and because the price wasn't too bad ((...), I figured I'd give it a whirl.

It arrived 2 days after I ordered it (Great job, Amazon!!), and right out of the package (once you finally get it opened...its a real pain!) it worked flawlessly! It comes with 2 AA batteries (Duracell, no less) and software to optimize the useage of the mouse (you can use it without installing the software...but you don't get the extra features like left to right scrolling and zoom). This mouse works on virtually any surface (I tested it out on my leg while wearing jeans...then later wearing sweats...you'd think it was on a desktop with a mousepad! It was that good). And best of all, the optical sensor is not blinding like other mice...in fact, unless you turn the mouse over, you never even see it.

The one drawback, and the reason I didn't give this five stars, is because there is no on/off switch. Yes, you can take the receiver (the teeny tiny one...which is good!) out of your USB port and clip it on the bottom to turn the mouse off, but a switch would be nice. Nonetheless, I just keep the mouse on until I go to bed at night and then turn it off. Works great! The clip for the receiver could be more secure like others have said, but it still holds pretty well. Maybe not in a bag or briefcase, but all in all, this mouse is awesome! I am thinking of buying a second one for my husband's desktop! Get one, you won't be disappointed!

Customer Review: Tracking issues
Summary: 2 Stars

Received this mouse as part of a work computer package (one of Dell's latest laptops). Installation went smoothly. Immediately ran into problems on certain surfaces. I am not a mouse pad fan at all and tend to use a wireless mouse anywhere and everywhere as I don't care for the laptop touch pads or joysticks. Infuriating inconsistency when moving the mouse around - the mouse buttons worked well however. A little research indicates the mouse's invisible beam optics restricts usage. That's a no-go for those that need a mouse that works solidly in multiple environments. Also noticed the signal is easily cutoff by the slightest solid obstruction like a table edge (say where laptop is down in your lap and your mouse is on a table edge). The red optic technology is far superior to the invisible optics in responsiveness, which is a let down given the battery life of the invisible beam.

RECOMMENDED FOR:
Those that can consistently use the same surface compatible with invisible beam optics and within a foot of the receiver.
Those that find battery life more important than the occasional surface issue.

PROS:
Good installation
Long battery life
Decent ergonomics

CONS:
Sensitive to surfaces (tracking hiccups)
Signal easily interrupted
Effective range is about 1 foot (not great for those giving presentations)

Customer Review: Great cordless mouse!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this mouse because of all the great user reviews on other sites and because it is Logitech. Logitech products are generally well made and this cordless mouse did not disappoint. This mouse cost $39.99 at a college bookstore. It came with a 3-button mouse, two batteries, a 2.4 Ghz receiver that plugs into a USB port, a CD with software, an installation guide, and a three year warranty.

The instructions say that Mac users will need to download drivers. Not so for my Powerbook G4 laptop. Plug and play. I simply plugged the receiver into the usb port and began using it. I've had it for several months and have no complaints at all. The mouse is a little smaller than a regular corded mouse, but fits well with my medium sized hand. When the mouse is not in use, the receiver snaps into a storage place on the back of the mouse (and it stays there). The great things about this mouse is that it begins working instantaneously when the receiver is plugged in, it works flawlessly, and you don't have to worry about losing the receiver because it stores securely on the mouse. The wheel tilts left and right, allowing the user to scroll left or right, zoom in and out; and it works great.

If you have blue tooth in your computer, you don't need this mouse. Get the Logitech V270.

Customer Review: VERY SENSITIVE TO SURFACES
Summary: 2 Stars

I purchased two of V200 as I believed a good deal of positive reviews. This item seemed to be good at first. First of all, it has an amazingly long working range owing to its 2.4GHz frequency, so can be used as an altenate wireless presenter. It also looked non-sensitive to any surface - I tried on white and dark desks, a fabric chair, my pants and my hand. I also found that several former reviewers mentioned V200 works on virtually every surface.

However, V200 turns out to be very SENSITIVE TO SURFACES. Especially, it tracks weirdly on light-colored (yellowish) wooden desks. I also found that it doesn't work well on glossy surfaces, for example, on magazine covers or even on a little glossy mousepad.

I don't think only mine are defective because both of mine show the same symptom. I guess this issue is because V200 uses infrared (invisible) optics. As you may know, Microsoft optical mice, except laser mice, usually use red LEDs and they work great.

I am very dissapointed now, but curious why other people have never complained about this issue. If you already have a V200, try on more various sufaces and share your experiences.

Customer Review: Works wonderfully!
Summary: 5 Stars

I just got this mouse today and I fell in love with it immediately. The USB reciever is small so it doean't get in the way when I plug it into my laptop. The mouse fits very comfortably into the palm of my hand. One thing I noticed is for a mouse this small, it is a little dense - probablly because it requires 2 AA batteries, but its not like I have to carry the mouse and they said its supposed to last about a year, so we'll see. As the package indicates, you can't see the optical light shining from the bottom of the mouse. I also tried using the mouse about 7 feet away and it works beautifully. I really like the fact that there is an indicator light, one on the top of the mouse and one on the bottom. The one on the bottom tells you if the mouse is on. It will turn off a few seconds after you connect the receiver to it. The one on top is to tell you when your battery is low.

In a nutshell, I definately recommend this. I'm keeping mine, especially when I'm getting it with a rebate offer :-)

ps. I got the silver mouse to match my laptop. It ended up being a grayish-silver as opposed to a white-silver, but hey it still looks chic.
