Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech V200 Cordless Mouse - Black ( 931380-0403 )Customer Review: Great little mouse! Great range, easy to get running. Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using this mouse for about an hour now and so far it works great. Although the packaging was a pain to open, this thing was really "plug and play." Easy to get the batteries in, easy to get up and running...just plug the USB receiver in and you're good. No on and off switch to worry about, just plug the receiver attachment into the mouse. That shuts the power off. Battery life is quoted at a year. (We'll see.)
Although the mouse comes with software, I didn't need to use it, which is important since my work laptop doesn't let me install software (no admin rights!).
I thought this device should use 2 AAA batteries instead of 2 AA batteries to cut down on the weight, but the extra weight gives the mouse some heft, which gives it controllability.
The wireless transmitter on this mouse has amazing range. I went 30 feet away and it still worked. I would have tested it further but the mouse cursor was too small to see and my house isn't that big! This would be easily usable for presentations, with the advantage of the presented not being tied down to the laptop and projector.
I didn't realize that this mouse also has some bonus features. The optical reader isn't that bright blinding red, but is invisible. Also, the scroll wheel can scroll left and right, as well as up and down. This hasn't worked for me yet, probably since I didn't install the software!
So far I'm quite happy with it. We'll see how easy it is to travel with it!
Customer Review: Died after 2 years Summary: 3 Stars
This mouse was wonderful...while it lasted. It performed all the basic functions that I needed even without even needing the drivers to be installed. Just plug in and use. It was fairly simple. I was actually pretty surprised at it's battery life too. The thing could go on for about 6 months of daily use without needing a change of batteries.
I cherished this awesome little mouse and cleaned it fairly regularly to preserve it's life. As a computer technician(and artist), I try to keep all my equipment in the best possible condition.
But then, one day a few months ago it started to get flakey. If I held the left mouse button for an extended period, it would randomly stop registering the press on the computer. This made it impossible to work with Photoshop as I do a lot of clicking and dragging. After that, the directionals started to go. Moving the mouse in any direction was very jerky on my computer screen, and sometimes wouldn't even move in the down direction all all. Pressing the "Reset" button would occasionally fix this, but one day it just stopped working all together. The light turns on and the computer recognizes the mouse, but neither the buttons nor the mouse movements function.
I'm a bit disappointed and had hoped that it had a longer life span like my other optical mouses, but I guess I was too hopeful. It makes we wish I kept the warranty on me. If it at least had a 2 year warranty, I would have invested in it.
Customer Review: Don't count on any warranty service from Logitech Summary: 1 Stars
Don't count on any warranty service. I had a problem after six months where the receiver in the USB port started smoking and heating up. I pulled it out and called Logitech support. (not a toll free number) I waited for forty minutes and finally a representative got on the line. He said that it sounded like it would be a warranty item. He said I could not send it back by mail but they would have to send DHL to pick it up because of the hazardous condition?? Not being plugged in I don't see how it could be hazardous. Then he told me if it is covered under the warranty they could only replace it with a cheaper model (even though they continue to sell this model at the manufacturer.
I waited from noon to 5pm for DHL to show up to pickup the items, which they did not. I called DHL and they told me that they never received an order from Logitech to pickup anything.
I called Logitech and the representative said she can't get access to the paperwork and they want to waist another afternoon so that DHL come another day. Finally after speaking to a supervisor they agreed to let me mail it back to them. They again said that they can only replace it with a less expensive model (as priced on THEIR website).
Customer Review: Good value, good quality Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this mouse several months ago, and it's served its purpose pretty much exactly as advertised. I have an aluminum PowerBook G4 with OS 10.4, and it was plug and play without a hitch; I was also able to use it without any special configuration on Ubuntu Linux (Breezy Badger), although it doesn't seem to be possible to get the side-scrolling to work on that operating system (probably due to a limitaion in the operating system, not the product). It's a little small for my hands, but I have big hands.
There are really only two things I didn't like about it: first, it's a lot more sensitive than most other mice, so you'll probably have to do some configuration to get it to a comfortable setting -- I guess if you use it with a lot of different computers this could be annoying; second, attaching the wireless receiver to the mouse is supposed to turn it off, but I've noticed that occasionally it doesn't turn off and you have to take the batteries out and put them back in to get it to turn off. On the other hand, in the months I've had it, I've never had to replace the batteries.
Overall, I would recommend this product if you want a reasonably priced wireless mouse.
Customer Review: Reliable, always easy to use Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this mouse about a year ago to use with a laptop I had recently purchased. The mouse outlasted the laptop.
First off, the best thing about this mouse is its ease of use. Although it comes with additional software, all you usually have to do is plug in its USB receiver and the mouse will start working within seconds. After I switched computers, from a PC to a Mac, it still worked flawlessly and installed in a snap.
The battery life of this mouse is ridiculous. It runs on 2 AAA's, and it lasted almost 8 months on its first pair of batteries. Usually, I'd just plug the mouse in when I woke up in the morning and left it on the rest of the day, but the mouse's battery life still lasted an amazing amount.
In short, this was one of the better computer purchases I've made. Although it now contrasts with my white macbook's design, I still wouldn't get rid of it. I find the USB wireless to be much more reliable than bluetooth, and I think this mouse is the one of the best wireless laptop mouses on the market, especially for the price.
It works so well, that my father replaced his desktop mouse with it after he get to try it out.
