Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech QuickCam Orbit AFCustomer Review: What a webcam should be! Summary: 5 Stars
Orbit AF is great. I LOVE IT!! Dont' waste your money on the other ones even if they are cheaper. My uncle, who has tried them all (bought them all) told me this was the best one, and it is. But I have to agree with the previous post, the face-tracking feature did not really work like I wanted it to. It didn't follow my dog's face at all. But I solved that problem by downloading telerobo from [...]. Then you can remotely pan, tilt and zoom, and it makes the experience way more fun and worthwhile. If I'm sitting in somebody's room, I don't look in just one direction. I walk and look around like a normal human being. That's what this camera allows you to do or will let your friends or family do. Get it, especially if you want the ability to remotely control the camera. It was defintely worth the slightly higher price.
Customer Review: LOGITECH ORBIT Summary: 5 Stars
We're new to the webcam experience, so this is our first webcam. We absolutely love it! Very easy to install and I love the way it follows you around the room.
Customer Review: Using it on a macintosh Summary: 4 Stars
The camera works excellent on a PC due to the included software, which allows you to control the auto-tracking function as well as zoom and many digital effects to add to your image. The image quality of the camera itself is outstanding, and its ability to enhance the light in the room to make the image bright and clear is excellent. On a Mac, however , the software is not compatible so the you can plug the camera in and it will function on a basic level only. That is, it will be detected as an "unknown device and will transmit video, but the tracking function and zoom do not work as well as all of the video effects on the disk(because the disk is for windows only.) The image quality of the camera is still excellent. Logitech stopped supporting Macs for their cameras.
Customer Review: High Quality but with Motion Blur Summary: 3 Stars
I have used this webcam for several weeks. It is well built and the camera lens is very good. My problem was Motion Blur. If you undo the automatic settings especially the Rightlight and for sure the Automatic settings. Once the Automatic Settings are disabled move the Exposure control to a little less than 1/2 way and the Gain up near the right end. You will be amazed at how this gets rid of the motion blur. Also the audio (maybe just mine) but it distorts very easily. If you move the volume control all the way left that should shut the mic off. Not so that is where I keep mine set so the green bar does not hit the far right end (distortion). If you try to play a musical instrument for sure it will distort. Other than that I would have rated it 5 all the way across.
Customer Review: Best Webam I've Ever Owned Summary: 4 Stars
This is the third webcam I have owned- the first a $25 cheap one from Wal-Mart, and the second the Microsoft Life Cam 6000. The Orbit AF definitely has the best picture quality of all those webcams, and I love that it has pan/tilt/zoom all by the click of the mouse. I don't use the face tracking, as I prefer to have the cam also on the upper part of my body and not just my face. I've used this cam on Yahoo, MSN, and a chat site I sometimes go to, and the only problem I've had is that for some reason the microphone doesn't work on MSN. I don't understand why it doesn't work on MSN when it works on the others, and I have no idea how to fix it. Other than that it's a great cam and worth the money if you want a high quality webcam.
