Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Premium Stereo Headset with Noise-Canceling MicrophoneCustomer Review: Good cheap headset! Summary: 4 Stars
I use this mainly for gaming and it does its job more or less. The sound is decent, depending on your sound card of course. It even has a control for the volume. The microphone picks up pretty well in terms of sensitivity. Overall the quality is great. The only problem I noticed with it is the volume control. If you're the type to change it back and forth, you will notice that you might lose sound from one ear until you move it around again to find that sweet spot (even though it's the same spot where it lost sound for one ear).
The first one I bought had the same problem but it was a lot worse. Moving the slider around didn't bring the sound back for one side (randomly). This one does the same thing but works when I swivel it around.
Customer Review: Volume/balance control problem Summary: 3 Stars
I previously had an earlier model of this headset, but had to replace it when the mic boom arm started losing connection with the headset. I was very pleased to be able to get the same (albeit updated) model. However, I have a major problem with the volume/balance control. First the volume control simply doesnt' work and secondly, the balance control is VERY finicky, and I have to have a surgeon's touch to get it set to a point where I hear sound through both sides.
I still really like the headset. I just wish the volume/balance control was working correctly. FYI - I received the headset in the original Logitech packaging, so it was a manufacturing problem, not anything the reseller did, because they provided excellent service.
Customer Review: Excellent Summary: 4 Stars
The sound clarity of these headphone is GREAT, and the price is very reasonable! They are very clear, and you do not get the crackling you sometimes get in headphones when you turn the volume up - this might be do to the volume limit on the headphones. I like the fact that you can adjust the volume on the headseat instead of always having to go to your computer, however they could have a better design for the control of the volume. Another annoying thing is the two lines, they do not divide far enough apart, I don't have a microphone input on the front of my PC, and I want to plug the headphones in the front of my speakers or PC, instead I am forced to unplug my speakers to hook these up if I want to use the microphone and headseat for chat.
Customer Review: not so great for gaming Summary: 2 Stars
For fifteen bucks it does a so-so job. If you're not an audiophile, it's okay for listening to music. For skype or teamspeak/ventrilo, its usually understandable but not that great. Words can sound a little fuzzy and sometimes hard to make out, at least compared to another cheapo logitech headset I had. If you're a serious gamer and require sound for footsteps etc., I suggest you look elsewhere. I was aware of these causing discomfort from previous reviews and can confirm it. In the beginning they were just downright painful, but placing them over my pc (I guess a shoebox would work too) has loosened them up so I can wear them for a couple of hours before my ears start hurting. As far as I know, the mic does an okay job.
Customer Review: Good sound, but poor design Summary: 2 Stars
I was initially very pleased with these headphones, but after using them for about two months they started having problems. I noticed that switching the position of the microphone seemed to change performance significantly. After 4 months, only certain frequencies could be heard. I finally got fed up with them and decided to see what the problem was.
Sure enough, the microphone hinge is held by a screw and nut that fray the wires that run through that portion of the unit. Further up that side of the unit, I noticed that the fit adjustment groove also frays the wire that runs through it. With these design flaws, I don't expect anyone to get more than six months of normal use out these headphones.
