Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Premium 4-Port USB HubCustomer Review: Slick little device, catches the eye while doing it's job Summary: 4 Stars
This USB 2.0 hub is stylishly designed, and since it's logitech you know it's good quality. As for the other reviewers that mentioned a lack of an external power supply, i do not see the need for it; the computer charges usb devices THROUGH the hub.
But a word to the wary: the usb ports are pretty close together, and though it won't be a problem for most usb devices (your mouses, your ipod cords), oversized memory sticks will not fit next to each other (one way to test if your stick will fit is to compare the usb width of your ipod/ mouse plug with the memory stick. equal width means you're golden).
My advice: Shop around a little, and you'll see people selling it for dirt cheap (i got it for $13.00 including S/H). $25.00 is a little steep, so do a little amazon-surfing and once you get to a price below 17.00, pick it up! Good USB 2.0 hubs don't get cheaper, and this is a real gem.
Customer Review: sleek lookin, works nicely Summary: 4 Stars
im one who wont buy something if i dont like the look of it and the reason why i bought this over others is the look along with the basic 4-port function i need. i trust logitech also as theyve never done me wrong. when i got it in the mail today it turned out smaller than i thought. comes with the usb cable which is about 1ft and isnt one of the cheap ones, it feels very durable. the small size is great since i will be carrying it with my laptop, but i cant plug in 2 of my thumb drives side by side because the ports are so close together. and one of them wont even plug in a certain port. i dont know what thats all about because it fits in every other port and my other thumb drive fits in it, its just that one drive in that one port. it works great and is perfect for travelling with! usb powered so no external power adapter neccesary, even though it has a plug in for it...
Customer Review: Review Logitech Premium 4 Port USB Hub Summary: 5 Stars
I was meaning to find a replacement for a Belkin USB Hub which was larger in size and taking up too much space during usage. On Black Friday, I purchased the Logitech after conducting research and reading reviews on several similar products. When the Hub came, it was great to see it fit in the palm of my hand. Set up was done within seconds. I just had to connect the USB wire then connect it to my HP Laptop (Windows Vista Home Premium) and I was ready to go. After a month of use, I only plugged in ONLY two USB Thumb Drives, a Sandisk Cruzer Contour 16 GB and a Lexar Jump Drive 1 GB, at the same time. I have had no problems so far. I don't intend to plug in the more energy intensive products so the Logitech Hub fits my needs perfectly.
Customer Review: Nice product. Summary: 5 Stars
This 4-port hub is very compact and works as one would expect. Standard size flash drives will fit side-by-side, but with no clearance. Practically speaking, it works best with only two devices attached, but will hold additional devices if attached by a cable. If you plan on using all four ports, you might need the optional power cable available from Logitec. It worked fine for me with two flash drives and an i-pod nano attached. I give it five stars even though it would be nice if the ports were an eighth of any inch farther apart. Update: without the optional power cable, it doesn't have enough juice to charge my 2nd gen ipod Touch even if the ipod is the only thing plugged in.
Customer Review: It works Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this a couple months ago and haven't any problems with it yet. The supplied cord to connect from the hub to the computer is only about 1 foot long, and it also charges my iPhone 3g without the optional power source as long as there is only one thing plugged in at once. It will however allow all four ports to transfer files at normal speeds simultaneously. Overall I've had nothing but good experiences with this hub, it does what I want.
Keep in mind when buying hubs that almost all will not come with a external power source, so in order to charge an iPod or anything like that, you must have as little amount of power going to the hub or any other connected devices.
