Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Optical Mouse- BlackCustomer Review: thouroughly satisfied Summary: 4 Stars
The only way that I could be more satisfied with this mouse is if it were wireless. (and Logitech obviously has wireless versions, but they were a bit pricey for me)
PROS:
* Excellent tracking - have had it for almost a year and the tracking works as well as the day I bought it. Also, the mouse slides easily even though it is only equipped with three plastic "pads" on the bottom.
* Extremely comfortable grip for either hand
* Durable - has been dropped many times and the cord yanked by many a fall and still shows no sign of wear. The logo hasn't even worn down.
* The scroll wheel is notched and is very comfortable to use. Much better than Microsoft's wheels by comparison.
* Just plug it in and go. The mouse starts working within 2 seconds after plugged in via USB.
CONS:
* Even though the description claims it needs no mousepad, the mouse does not track well unless it is on a flat and moderately textured surface. Mousepads are not required, but don't expect to be able to use the mouse easily on any old desk.
* The mouse is lightweight enough to be dragged by its own cord if the cord is draped off the edge of a desk or something. This is annoying but can be worked around in a number of ways.
Customer Review: Great Mouse! Summary: 5 Stars
When my previous ball mouse kept fetching up and made it close to impossible to drag my pointer around easily, I went out and bought the Logitech Optical mouse. I figured since I was having problems with the ball mouse, then optical was the way to go. I was right. I picked this particular one because it was cheaper than all the other optical mouse products. Turnes out you don't need the most expensive to get the best quality. This little mouse works wonderfully. It is extremely smooth scrolling, and it never stutters. When you slide the mouse around the pointer goes with it without stopping even once. And the middle button/scroll wheel makes this the perfect mouse. Plus one of the best parts is that there is no installation required. Plug it into the mouse port, then turn on the computer and that is it. It will work automatically. There are no compatibility problems with Windows XP. So go ahead and buy this little guy.
Customer Review: Mouse is great but you only get 3 Summary: 5 Stars
I buy computer supplies for my office. I usually go through about 10 mice per month. Logitech has always been my favorite choice. They are very reliable. But if you try to buy more than 3 at one time, you will be disappointed. For some strange reason Amazon will limit your purchase to 3 at a time. I tried to let them know about this mistake on their website but they didn't seem to care (or didn't understand). Luckily there are several other internet suppliers who have the same product at an equal or better price.
I noticed a few people complained about skipping and jumping. The fix to this problem is simple and I see it quite often when a new user starts work at my office. This (and most other optical mice) cannot be used on a shiny surface. You don't need a mouse pad but any kind of non-reflective surface will work fine. Change your work surface and I'm sure you will be back with a 5 star rating.
Customer Review: Comfortable, no-frills optical mouse -- no fancy installation or software required! Summary: 5 Stars
Since I have small hands, it has been somewhat challenging to find a computer mouse that fits. The mice I've tried have been either too large or too small. This size is just right. Having a good mouse is important to me, since as a published author I spend quite a bit of time at the computer. (See my books on Amazon.)
This mouse does not require any software or fancy installation, which is great for impatient non-geeks like me. In fact, your computer can already be on when you want to use it! All you have to do is put the connector cord into a USB port and it's ready to use.
Too bad this comes only in basic black. However, when I type I'm not looking at the mouse anyway. Plus, the price is right. You should be able to get one for under $15.00.
So if you want a basic, corded optical mouse for a reasonable price, this is a good one to get -- provided, of course, it fits your hand.
Customer Review: At this price point i think the many other mice feel more solid than this logitech mouse. Summary: 2 Stars
I mainly chose this mouse because I needed one quickly and it was black and matched my set up. I had been using the standard greyish white optical mouse with a scroll wheel and a red light that shined out from under my wrist. This one feels smaller, but still comfortable. However a couple weeks of normal usage made the mouse much less solid feeling. The plastic now mushes as the seems flex slightly in my hand. I decided to have a friend repair the cable of my old mouse. :-/ I am going to donate this mouse to a friend who still has a tracking ball mouse. I like some of Logitechs products and higher end mice. But I would stay away from this mouse. Its not bad, its just not good enough to pick over other mice that cost the same amount.
Hope that helps.
