Customer Review: Heads up...
Summary: 2 Stars

I have to write this review just to give those who are interested in this product a heads up on the potential problem of this product.

Pros:
- the arm rest is decent

- not a bad price for a good looking laser combo

- isn't plug-and-play and requires minimal installation, but that wasnt a big issue

Cons: (evaluate according to how much it will affect you)
- the middle button click is pretty hard. You can barely hear it and most of the time will accidentally push forward or sideways. Terrible when I rely on it heavily to close and open new browser tabs.

- Despite the ergonomics looking design of the mouse, I find my hand pretty uncomfortable resting on the mouse. My hands are average guy's size, and I find the palm area to be hollow whereas normal ordinary looking mouse doesn't have this problem at all.

- despite it's a laser mouse, it isn't that sensitive

- keyboard lags when you type anything over than 50wpm. Imagine you just smash your keyboard with a load of keystrokes. I can see the letters popping out one by one (a problem stated by one of the reviewers here to). I have a G Router next to me, that might be the cause but not entirely sure.

- the LCD on the keyboard appearance to be pretty useless and waste of battery life to me. It will show clock, alarm, and volume up which something the screen will show anyways.

- the zoom on the left can be very sensitive at weird times. Occasionally touch it by accident.

- the special keys on the top is a bit crowded and no distinctive separation on each of them. I always have to look at (instead of feeling them) which one I'm pressing. I usually would use those keys to play media.

- middle button isnt bind to middle-button function by default.

- the keyboard is a bit too crowded and problematic to actually enjoy the features it has.

Other notes: I didnt try it long enough to know the battery life. However the hard middle button and keystroke lags is the main reason I returned it. Minus all the dislikes, I would be using it just like a normal plain keyboard and an uncomfortable mouse.

- Hope this helps

Customer Review: Comfortable keyboard and mouse, but the media keys are too small
Summary: 4 Stars

The mouse in this package is the Logitech MX 600 laser mouse. On my wood desk the laser mouse jumps all over the place. My previous mouse worked just fine without a mouse pad on my wood desk. I am guessing there is too much reflection from the somewhat shiny wood surface for a laser. I bought a SteelSeries QcK Mouse Pad and that helped some but the tracking still jumped around quite a bit. I bought a Razer Sphex and now the mouse tracks fine - however the back surface of the Sphex makes a crinkling noise as you move the mouse over its surface as the mouse mat tries to grip the wood desks surface. Please realize with this laser mouse you will need a hard surfaced mouse pad for the mouse to track correctly.

The media buttons for playing music (forward, back, pause, etc) are too small. They are also hard to see/make out what button is what because the symbols on them are small. I like the date and time display. This keyboard is quite small in the footprint it takes up, so more desk space. The keyboard and mouse are comfortable enough to use, but I wish I would have bought something else with bigger keys for the media functions. Also I don't like the fact I have to use a mouse pad now - and that I had to buy a few different mouse pads to find one that works with this mouse. I may end up buying yet another mouse pad if the crinkling of the Sphex doesn't go away.

By the way - I am using this keyboard and mouse with Windows 7 and haven't run into any problems using an older keyboard and mouse with a new operating system. Had to go out and download the latest software from Logitech's website since what comes on the CD is for XP and Vista. Had problems installing the software and had to do a 'clean boot' in order to get the software to install.

3/5/2010 - I updated this to make it 4 stars instead of 3. It is a very comfortable mouse and keyboard to use. And now that I have found a mouse pad to work with the mouse I like it even more. Only complaint at this point is I wish the media keys were larger and more easy to see.

Customer Review: Great keyboard.. but poorly built
Summary: 4 Stars

Updated (8/10/2009) after 2+ years of use (change from 4 stars to 3 stars)
Only a couple of changes since the first review
1. The Keyboard has actually lived up pretty well. The problems I mentioned below were probably software glitches because I havent experienced them since a long time.
2. I have had the biggest problems with the Mouse (MX 600 is the model number I am talking about). The mouse frequently registers multiple clicks when only pressed once. I am terrified of making online purchases with this piece of crap. I have to minimize a window before closing it, otherwise it will close the one behind it too. I am going back to the free Dell Mouse I received with my PC!

The reason for the 3 stars (and not 2) is the keyboard.

I have had this keyboard for 10+ months now.. and I love it except for 1 problem.

1. The keys are fragile.. My main "enter" key is now dysfunctional. sometimes it just wont work and sometimes it gets stuck. By "stuck" I dont mean physically stuck, but it transmits 3 or more keystrokes for every 1 physical keystroke I make. I now have to use the NumPad enter key.
[I have another logitech wireless desktop set (MX 3100) that I use at work and that is still going strong after 2 years without a single problem. I am into software so I am a heavy user whether at home or work and I do tend to remove my frustration on my keyboard.]

Mouse takes up too much power. Batteries dont last for more than a couple of months. Although this is not a problem per se.

Pros:
1. Very sleek, buttons perfectly organized and a great (read: working) inbuilt wrist pad.

2. Receiver is super discreet. (comes with an extension cord although it is NOT shown in most pictures)

3. SetPoint is vastly improved and very easy to use.

4. Installation is painless

Customer Review: What a great find!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am an avid gamer and a big time computer enthusiast in general. I just built my very first rig not too long ago and wanted to complement it with a wireless desktop/mouse combo. I have never used wireless input devices for a computer before so I was pretty much taking a chance on a new product. I read the reviews on Amazon and they seemed pretty great considering that almost 1 out of every 6 or 7 wireless devices will probably have some sort of defect ranging from DOA (rare) to problems that don't become apparent till after 6 months of use such as battery consumption or connectivity. I didn't want to pay 75 bucks for it so I looked at the used resellers. There was one that was "factory refurbished" which came with free super saver shipping from Amazon for 45 bucks. I took a chance and hit the buy button.

I have owned the combo for about two weeks now so I can't tell you about long term issues. However, everything was working great out of the box. I didn't get an owner's manual or any batteries with the refurbished product but something like that was to be expected. The keyboard wasn't immediately recognized by the wireless adapter but after installing the program from the CD and SECURING the keyboard connection* (key point for those who are having similar issues)it was working just fine. The mouse was a step up for me from my previous mouse both in comfort and in performance. Personally, I like the different options and tweaks that the Logitech software provides. Some people might just prefer to use the product without any additional software to hassle with, and it will still work just fine. I really like the freedom that I have without any restrictive wires. Also, the black mouse and keyboard look phenomenal on my desk as I have a black theme going with all my computer peripherals.

Final word: Highly recommended. Although, I would suggest doing a little more research to find this product for ten or twenty bucks cheaper if possible.

Customer Review: Replacing another wireless logitech keyboard
Summary: 3 Stars

I like the feel of the keyboard and mouse. The software (you need to install this) really lets you customize out every button to suit your needs. I have really changed the mouse buttons around to do all sorts of things and that speeds up my computing tremendously.

It was hard to get used to the non-standardness of the keyboard for a week or so since I'm not used to having my F keys smaller, the keys not lined up with the edge of the board (the scroll thing is in the way) and the little buttons at the top take time getting used to.

Drawbacks: Definitly not as fast as a wired keyboard and mouse. It took some time customizing the scrolling speeds of the mouse to get it to feel right. I don't recommend the mouse or the keyboard for action game play. The board doesn't like having more than about two buttons pressed at one time, otherwise it just doesn't respond. So when you press W and S and Jump you just stop. The mouse has a latency that you really start to notice during game play as well. I actually do use the keyboard/mouse to game it just took a while to get used to.

Advantages: The batteries are actually included with the purchase. How considerate! I can use the keyboard mouse all the way across my HOUSE, and you don't have to recharge them.

2 1/2 years after owning this product both the keyboard and mouse are dead due to batteries leaking/exploding. I assume the problem is the batteries but i had different types of batteries in both products, and changed batteries after I started to see a leak, and the new batteries blew up. I'm not sure what that is all about. Anyways, the wireless range on these devices was average to poor and the receiver really needed to be within 2-3 feet of the device which I guess is typical of most desk situations, but if the corded receiver gets busted and you use just the usb device and have your computer under your desk the wireless will cut in and out.
