Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech MOMO Force Feedback Racing Wheel

Customer Review: Seemed good, but wasn't...
Summary: 2 Stars

I purchased the Logitech MOMO FF Wheel back in December for online SIM racing. After multiple attempts to install and then uninstall and reinstall, I was able to separate the axis for the gas and brake pedals. The force feedback was very nice; however, on the whole, I think that they cheaped out when they made this unit in production. Here it is May, and the brake pedal no longer works. I did not use this unit daily until about 2 weeks ago, so it is not from being overused. So, I uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times and nothing would fix it, so I tore it apart last night and there is no reason for it to not be working.

Likes:
-Force Feedback - Adjustable to 150% - Provided realistic driving.
-Rubber Wheel - Nice grip and feel to the wheel itself made for comfortable driving.
-Shifters and Programmable Buttons - Convenient
-Profiler - Ability to profile up to (I believe) 20 games

Dislikes:
-Cheapness of pedal materials
-Installation
-Very little use and now not working correctly
-Inability to get help from Logitech when at their site

Overall, I think it was just a cheap version of their original and I would not purchase it again.

Customer Review: Great But .......
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been using this wheel for about 2 months now with Test Drive Unlimited and Need For Speed: Most Wanted Black Edition. While it has really helped (tried to use a joystick at first) sometimes it just seems to lose the correct force feed back sensations that you would normally feel in a real car (did some track racing in my S2000). Having all the buttons on the wheel make it easier vs the G25 (2 buttons) which one of my friends has but the G25 has much better "feel" than the Momo. Also, the gas and brake don't seem to be very smooth, seems like it goes from 0 to 35-40 percent in one jump and then it starts to go smooth from there up to 100 percent. One issue I would have with the G25 is the shifter is mounted separate so you need additional desk area. It seems that most people who buy a G25 get a dedicated seating system for mounting the G25 while those that get the Momo just mount it to their computer desk or table (my friend has a play seat which mounts the G25/Shifter/Pedals/Monitor).
But for 1/3 the price of a G25 its hard to compare and I feel the Momo to be a much better value.

Customer Review: Great Wheel! Terrible life span!!
Summary: 2 Stars

I purchased this wheel after vast researching and I must say I love the way it feels. The wheel assembly iteslf is outstanding!! The one shortfall was the paddle shifters as they do break. The pedal assembly is a completely different story. Throttle control is essential in today's games and these pedals are junk! When they work, they are adequate, but they WILL break. I can comfortably say this as I have returned 3 wheels so far to be replaced due to pedal problems. The culprit with the pedals are the pots (potentionometers) that are the electronics in the pedal assembly. They are cheap at best. The mounting assembly is insufficent and the pots themselves are ridiculously sub-par. Plus, Logitech does not sell replacements. I did find them via a 3rd party company finally. But, I find it hard to digest that Logitech risks so much potential on a product with $0.30 parts (which cost $7 ea to replace via 3rd party). Ultimately I would have to say stay away from this wheel. But, if they fix the design deficiancies..buy no other!!!!

Customer Review: More than I expected

I researched this item and even bought a cheaper one. I stress CHEAPER. I returned it and bought this from Amazon. I got a great deal and free shipping (which makes up for the fact that they are 10 to 15 bucks more than other suppliers).

I use the wheel with NASCAR Total Control that I bought for $9.95 at a local retailer and this thing is very good. I really like the feel of the wheel.

I use it with Need For Speed Underground (yes the first one which I bounght and used with a joystick) with Vibration on....OH MY GOD!!! I thought I was racing throught the street. My heart was pounding and my hands sweating.

The Wheel is a great feel and is a rubber that feels like a real steering wheel. Not a kids toy feel. The paddle shifters are great and it attaches to my table well. You will want to use the foot pedals on a rug since they are moulded to grip a rug. THe wires are all long enough too.

I would buy this again or even give it as a gift. I highly recommend.

Customer Review: Great
Summary: 4 Stars

Its a nice wheel IMO, however there are a few things that annoyed me about it.

1. Documentation is limited and for the c clamps it doesn't say how to remove the gray cover..
2. It has a built in lap "holder" which can be an issue for people with shorter desks
3. It makes a whining sound when turned quickly. (I was able to fix this with custom made gearing.)
4. The rubber is sticky. but after some use it will go away.
5. LED's are a bit bright and kinda blind/annoy you at night.
6. Paddle shifters feel awkward, they're a bit too far back.
7. Shifter(paddle shifters too) makes a loud clicky sound
8. "Sensitivity" doesn't seem to want to work properly with certain games (mainly DiRT and GRiD) its either full gas/brake/left/right or no gas/brake/left/right.(more than likely a game issue not product)
9. A bit too long, a bit longer and it would knock my monitor off the back of my desk.

Otherwise its a good wheel and I'd buy one again
