Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech LX7 Cordless Optical Mouse - Dark Blue ( 931395-0403 )Customer Review: Sleek, sexy, and still durable Summary: 5 Stars
This is the best mouse I've owned to date. I use it strictly with my laptop, both of which I carry to and from work often. It feels great, functions very smoothly, and is pretty to look at. After losing a couple of games of online cards, I decided to test its durability over a period of time, and have found it to be able to sustain some fairly intense impacts, not requiring super glue until after the 5th or 6th test impact (each greater than the previous). I have decided to, once again, choose this mouse (should arrive in the next couple of days from amazon).
I seriously considered choosing a mouse with more buttons this time around, but gave up the idea since I don't even use the "back" and "next" buttons on this one (it still works, by the way, but after the second round of super glue I lost the left and right scroll function, which was very nice for photoshop, excel sheets, and extra wide websites). I also enjoy this mouse's decent resolution of 1200dpi.
If you prefer a mouse with more buttons, I would recommend reviewing the Logitech Media Play Cordless.
Pros - Long Battery Life (2 AAs go for bout 6 months, even when you forget to turn it off as often as I do), 4-Way scroll saves your wrist, durable
Cons - Doesn't work on all surfaces (usally needs to be something with even color, but not 100% all one color, or maybe just not something too reflective as with some laminated tables), there is no "storage compartment" in the mouse for the mouse's usb receiver as with some laptop mice
Customer Review: Excellent mouse Summary: 5 Stars
I've had four or five wireless mice over the years, and this one is by far the best.
Precision is most definitely the best I've experienced. It's still not as good as wired mice, but it comes pretty close and easily beats every other model I've had. [TIP: after connecting the mouse in Windows, use Control Panel -> Mouse -> Pointer Options to reduce pointer speed for better control. This is standard procedure for all wireless mice.]
Battery life is great: I purchased the mouse in May, and it only ran out of juice at the end of November. Although the manual doesn't say it, it appears that the mouse does switch itself off after a period of inactivity, thus saving the batteries.
The feel is excellent. It is slightly smaller than a regular-sized desktop mouse, but I've had no fatigue issues even though I have large hands. It's just about as big and heavy as needed to provide a comfortable, confident feel.
The cons are few. The placement of back/forward buttons is not ideal, in my view: I prefer them under the thumb. It's no big deal though, as they are still easy to use with the index and ring finger (and it's good they're even there, as many wireless mice don't have them). One gripe I have is that it's unavailable with Bluetooth connectivity: doesn't matter much for desktops, but for my netbook I'll have to find something else!
Overall, an excellent product.
Customer Review: Nice cordless mouse for people with small hands Summary: 5 Stars
I am a gamer girl with tiny hands, so when my old mouse died I had a few requirements for a new one.
1) It needed to fit nicely in my small hands
2) It needed a middle scroll wheel
3) It needed two extra buttons (for a total of 5) I can easily access, because I map everything to my keyboard and mouse in games
I tried about five different mice and fell in love with this one. It fits my hand perfectly, has a scroll/tilt wheel, and has two little buttons near the scroller I can easily click. Logitech's software is also easy to configure and use.
Also, the batteries on this thing last FOREVER (even longer if I remember to turn it off too). I've had this mouse for at least a year and it is only now telling me they are critical- but it keeps going and going...
This mouse just looks cool too. The dark blue looks more green to me, which is even better.
However, if you have larger hands you might want a different mouse. My boyfriend has big hands- he finds this mouse too small and instead uses the Logitech MX series.
No matter which model you pick, I HIGHLY recommend Logitech for keyboards and mice. Trust me, the cheap brands are cheap for a reason. I had a Dynex and it died in 2 months. I bought another and it was broken out of the box. But my Logitechs never fail me!
Customer Review: Worked perfectly right out of the box Summary: 4 Stars
I decided to buy this mouse after my previous Microsoft wireless optical mouse started showing some software glitches after less than a year of use (it seems that Microsoft's bugs are not just limited to its operating systems and other software products.) I decided to try out Logitech's mouse after viewing all of the positive reviews on Amazon and the overall high ratings. So far, all those high marks seem more than justified. The mouse setup was a breeze, my Windows Vista installed all the drivers in about ten seconds and I was ready to go. The mouse seems very responsive, and all of its navigational buttons work as advertised. The mouse seems solid in your hand, and overall it gives off an impression of high manufacturing value. My only objection is that is a bit smaller than a regular desktop mouse, which may not be a big deal if you, like me, are going to primarily use it with a laptop. Another problem is that the wireless USB transmitter is a bit too large, especially when compared with the recent transmitters that barely stick out of the USB port. Also, unlike some other transmitters, this one cannot be tucked in into a compartment on your mouse, which is a convenient feature if you travel a lot and don't want to run the risk of losing the transmitter. Other than these two objections, I am extremely satisfied with this mouse.
Customer Review: A dark blue lemon Summary: 2 Stars
I've been using this mouse for about a month now, and I've discovered one serious flaw and two smaller but nonetheless irritating problems.
First, the showstopper: it doesn't always work. There are few things more frustrating than helplessly sliding a mouse around your desk while your cursor remains stubbornly motionless on the screen, and that's exactly the experience that I get pretty frequently with the Logitech LX7. I've tried it on wood, plastic, fabric mousepads, hard mousepads, and even a small square of stainless steel, and it just doesn't work very well. Right now I'm using it on a green manilla folder, which seems to work better than anything else, though still not well.
Smaller irritation: it comes with an adapter for a PS/2 plug, so that you don't have to use a precious USB port. The adapter doesn't work, so you'll be plugging it into a USB port anyway.
Very small irritation: the color as represented in the photo is misleading, to put it politely. While the color description "dark blue" is technically correct, a more accurate description might be "so dark a blue that it looks grey or black unless you hold it directly under a bright light".
I'm a pretty big fan of Logitech products in general, but this particular one is a lemon.
