Amazon has apparently sold out its supply of the Logitech Harmony 659, but even at an 80% price reduction it was no bargain. At least with a Macintosh (two of them) and OSX (two versions), it became a three-hour adventure simply to get the Logitech website to "see" the remote. The two additional methods of synchronizing the remote with your equipment--answering the questions in the dimly-lit screen of the remote and getting the Logitech remote to "learn" your other remotes' settings--proved no more efficient. After 10-12 hours of labor I had my equipment synchronized to approximately 60% efficiency. Thankfully it was a relatively easy process to return the device to Amazon. (I fared much better with the Sony universal remote currently going for under 20.)Customer Review: Works well

Just got this, based on the fact that I was juggling four remotes (TV, Blu-Ray, AV Receiver, Satellite) on a daily basis and it was getting old. Tried this one based on the low entry price (refurbished). It is everything it's advertised to be. Downloaded the software, opened it, plugged the remote into my Mac, entered the model numbers of my devices, it uploaded from the website, and everything worked. Then I added custom keys (source, audio, chapter previous and chapter next) for various devices using the IR port and those worked. The device now does everything I need it to do. And if the refurb one dies, I know that I can buy another (or spring for a new model) and it will work as expected. Now I'm sorry I waited so long to buy one of these.Customer Review: Perfect remote for tv, vcr, dvd player, etc.

I am not a geek, and I don't even like to program the time on my DVD player, but I really enjoyed setting up this universal remote. I was able to figure out everything except one minor detail, and a call to Logitech's customer service solved that. I especially like the user friendly screen that walks you through issues that may come up.
It is best used 100% of the time with your electronic equipment. For instance, if you manually shut off one piece of equipment, then the Harmony can get confused. HOWEVER, the screen helps walk you through fixing the issue. If you press the help button, it will ask you a short series of questions to determine the problem, and the unit will AUTOMATICALLY fix the connection. It's a genius.

Although I love logitech products, the Logitech Harmony 659 universal remote does not function well for me. I used the software provided, followed the steps, entered all my electronics and for some reason, the TV will still not initialize correctly. It flip flops between turning on my DVD player and the DISH satellite connnection. I went back to the software, followed the set up instructions. The remote has the same problem. Our IT guru has a similiar model. He suggested I continue to 'play' with it. He said the set up isn't that easy, but can be mastered if you find the right 'code. I'd rather spend my time watching TV, not playing with a remote. We've stopped using it. We went back to using our 3 remotes, easier but more of a pain.Customer Review: One remote on the coffee table now!

I've had other "all-in-one" remotes but the Harmony is truly a quantum leap! By programming for activities rather than just devices, I can tell the remote what devices to turn on and control whether I'm watching cable, playing a DVD or using my Apple TV (yes, it also replaces the Apple TV remote!). And I can switch between activities without the TV power being cycled on and off and back on. Timing parameters are also taken into account so activities can be properly sequenced. I also like that the programming software is kept up to date with the newest devices and control "macros" and that I can customize the buttons.
Except for the box, I can't tell that this is a refurb'ed item.
