The speakers are really awesome! exactly what i needed!
Pros: The speakers are just perfect for my small dorm room. They fit fine on my desk and don't clutter anything, they produce clear nice sound, even at high levels.
Cons: the bass is really heavy (which isn't really a con if you think about it, but i have to turn mine way down). BEWARE you have to have a sound card (or other form of mutliple jacks) if you want to hook these speakers up on a computer for true surround sound. (i just have two headphone jacks and that let me use the 4 surround speakers, and it still sounds amazing).
I haven't hooked it up to a television set yet and i don't really plan on it, but i'm sure they would do well, especially for gaming too.

I bought my G51 system used, so I was worried about any defects or problems, but there were none, other than the box it was shipped in being very dinged up.
The G51 sounds amazing...a huge step up from the older 4.1 Creative I was using. It's not top-of-the-line, but it's the best you can get for being in the $150 range.
I love using the Music matrix mode to put music over all my speakers...makes it sound so much better.
However, I don't use the Gaming mode at all, even though I play plenty of videogames. Sometimes voices will be cut out because it's ignoring the center channel, and most of time, like in TF2, it just sounds weird and too amplified using the Gaming mode. It sounds just fine in the normal mode though.

Ignore all those bad reviews these speakers are the best ones especially for the price.The sound is unbelievably crisp and the bass is perfect. The only downside is that you need to have a computer that is compatible with 5.1 surround sound. I sadly found out that even an intergrated sound card that supports it still doesnt sound right so i bought a new creative sound card. Above all, this is the surround sound you want. There is no point in getting the z5500 its just unneccesary.
EDIT: The product seemed to be faulty. The subwoofer's back left and right jack didnt produce vocals. Amazon.com sent me a whole new product with 2 day shipping free of charge! Great customer service. These speakers still blow you out of your seat.

I picked up these speakers about a week ago and am ecstatic about them! I upgraded from a very good 2.1 system to this 5.1 surround and the difference was amazing (even using my onboard sound). This setup has a controller which allows you to emulate 5.1 sound via a 2.1 card. I also went ahead and upgraded to a 5.1 sound card and the difference was amazing. These speakers really shine on their native sound card. The balance is nothing short of astounding for such small speakers. I am an audio engineer and am impressed with this product. Logitech is still the leader in the industry for peripherals. I will always get their products. Oh and btw, surround sound is a must for gaming!Customer Review: Good but not great speaker system

Logitech G51 Surround Sound 5.1 Speaker System (Black)
I had a set of Cambridge 4.1 computer speakers, no center speaker. These replaced them. Better center channel coverage, less volume with slightly muddy base. The control pad - panel is good I am able to adjust the surround, base and center plus master volume. Satellite speaker mounting should be on a gimbals to facilitate various mounting possibilities. I recommend this system for someone who wants a speaker system somewhat better than a 2.1 if you are looking for theater quality - keep looking.
