As soon as I opened the box for the Logitech G51 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers I knew I had a high quality product. Logitech really tried to make this speaker product stand out from its competition in form and fit. All the audio cables were color coded, as were the outlets on the powered subwoofer. Even the non-Logitech audio card in my computer used the same color code. Assembly did not require the one page instruction sheet. Using "Never Winter Nights" as a test game I found the background music rolling in from the rear two speakers and voices and action sounds coming from the front left, right and center speakers with crystal clear, spatially distinct, realistic sounds. The bass was powerful and faithful without a hint of boominess. The game was much better using this sound system than using my previous one. This time I got what I paid for. Next I played a CD of the musical "The Baker's Wife", which has a number of crowd scenes. With my eyes shut it was very much like being in the audience of a live theater presentation - the best presence I have ever experienced in audio playback. The small control box beside my computer was heavy enough not to slide around and provided complete control of all the components. The only negative I find in this product is the exposure of the downward firing subwoofer. It would be very easy to badly damage it.Customer Review: Logitech G51 Speakers-Great Bang for the Buck

Ordered the Logitech G51 Surround Sound Speakers from Amazon (could NOT find a cheaper price on the web)for my son. These speakers (designed for a PC, but can be used to hookup a gaming system - be sure to buy an adapter from Amazon) are simply outstanding for the price. They sound great and the bass is simply awesome - you will not be able to fully crank up the bass without pissing off your neigbors upstairs. As other people mentioned in their reviews the length of speaker wires are OK for the typical hookup for a PC, however, if you want to expand the "surround" sound experience beyond around 4 ft to the front and 6 feet to the rear speakers be prepared to purchase some speaker wire extension with RCA plugs ( I believe other people purchased them here from Amazon - which should be a whole lot cheaper than running down to your local Radio Shack).
Bottom Line: Check these out - the Logitech G51 is definitely worth consideration. Great Bang for the Buck speakers that will work with PC's, Gaming System and portable MP3 Players.
Additional things to buy: Extension speaker wires (with RCA plugs); an Adapter which allows a gaming system to be connected.

I have enjoyed so far the two months or so of owning this logitech g51. The best thing about logitech is the control panel. I find myself changing the settings a lot with ease. I can also mute the mic or mute the speakers with the convenient buttons located on the control panel. Also, I didn't expect the matrix button to work so well. The gaming button helps a lot while im playing COD 4 & the music button works a LOT better than I thought it would. :D
The worst thing about the logitech g51 is that it has extremely short cables for the rear speakers. I mounted my speakers to the wall & i was barely able to mount them. Since these are surround sound speakers, they should have made them longer! (that's why I gave the g51 a 4/5 stars)
Do not get the g51 if you're planning to mount or put the rear speakers further than about 10 to 12 feet from your computer. (Depending on corners & curve on the cable it can be longer or shorter)
In any case, the sound can get really loud & depending on your sound card, it can sound clear with good quality.
Overall this is a great product, easy to install. It works & sounds great.

Before this I used a 2.1 system, and thought it was pretty good. Well, the G51 blew it away with its' smooth audio that envelops you and adds a powerful and unique audio experience to any system. It sounded great in games, and music takes on a whole new dimension. I watched some TV shows on my Slingbox and the G51 made my room sound like a professional audio entertainment room.
The controller makes it easy to adjust the volume as well as the individual channel volumes (surround, center, bass). It also provides convenient microphone and headphone jacks at your fingertips. The mute button is also a handy addition to the control panel.
The G51 has ample speaker cables, but a little extra length on both the front and rears would be welcome. Even better, if they could make this system wireless - it would really open up speaker placement options.
Overall, this is a great set of speakers, and I've listened to a lot of speakers (both computer and audiophile speakers) and can honestly give these 5 stars for stellar performance. When they finally get rid of those wires - I'll be the first in line!

These speakers are great! I upgraded from the old Logitech Z-640 5.1 speakers.
I honestly was willing to buy those same Z-640 speakers, as I was very pleased with them. I had those speakers for about 6 or 7 years and they were amazing for gaming, music, movies, everything.
But a friend of mine wanted to buy them from me since they didn't make them anymore, so I saw it as an opportunity to upgrade to something a little more powerful.
I can honestly say that these speakers are the best bang for your buck at this price range. Although I am a big Logitech fan, the reason for me being a fan is because their products never fail to amaze me.
The big reason I chose these speakers over other ones is because there is an auxiliary stereo input which I connect directly to my TV. Very convenient way to get your TV sound to come out of these awesome speakers.
If you're on the fence about getting these speakers or different ones at a similar/more expensive price, then you should get off that fence and definitely get a set of these. Money well spent.
