Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech G5 Laser Mouse (Blue/Black)

Customer Review: biased
Summary: 5 Stars

I previously owned the G5's orange predecessor and loved it. It went every where with me in my backpack and out lasted my first laptop but it slowly went into death throws. I tore it down and fixed the wire to bring it back to life but decided to start anew. The extra button is handy for button mapping in some of the games I play and the other functionality that I had grown so accustomed to was there and untouched. It's precise, the wheel is smooth and solid, and i enjoy the wheel tilt for photo editing and web surfing. The variable speed is excellent for games. The weights allow for more control. It's a fantastic mouse. I would warn that if you plan to use it with a laptop go easy on the cord, it failed where it enters the mouse on the old model more or less because of the nylon wrapping.

Customer Review: Too smooth
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a good mouth considering its quality, however, the 2000dpi option makes the mouth fly!! Hardly control it while using 2000dpi, seems useless to me actually. But overall, this is a nice mouth.

Customer Review: Still working for one month. tf2 / dod:s
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this when it was 41.99 plus a 15 dollar mail in rebate. Its been one month, the mouse still works, but I'm still waiting for my 15. The mouse is excellent, you can change dpi on the fly. i have two dpi settings 1600 and 400, my scores have improved alot on team fortress 2 and day of defeat:source. within minutes i unlocked the 3 headshot achievement on tf2 and i actually play sniper now (with sniper rifle of course). getting 5 headshots on dod:s with sniper is a little bit trickier but im sure with this mouse, i can unlock it within a year or sooner (if i have patiences enough, then again, i dont have the "jack of all trades" achievement either).

Customer Review: g5
Summary: 3 Stars

nice mouse, tracks well and feels better than most.really like that you can adjust sensitivity on the fly.now for the bad,the mouse buttons sometimes double click.if your trying to drag something it well release or try to open it depending on what it is.i use to have same problem with 518 after 6 month use so i thought i give the g5 a try, didn't last 2 weeks before doing it.wish they could fix this problem other than rma it back for another [...] bucks.rick

Customer Review: not just for gamers
Summary: 5 Stars

You don't know how much a good mouse can mean until you get one. I got by for years on the cheap ones that were too lightweight and much too inaccurate, and didn't know any better.

I finally just got too frustrated and starting looking around for something better. I settled on the G5 and will never look back. Even without installing the drivers I could tell this was a great mouse: solid construction, high quality buttons, smooth operation and motion. The extra weights provided make the mouse perfect for your own physical attributes and requirements, and are a snap to install.

Then I installed the drivers and found another world of tweaking. Every button, except for the right and left clicks, are programmable to make navigating around your computer easier. The only thing I could wish for was more control over the scroll wheel, but that was solved in the G9. Both wonderful results of the imagination and quality built in at Logitech.

I am not a gamer. I just love great equipment. This a beautiful gear, and a pleasure to work with.
