Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech G5 Laser Mouse (Blue/Black)

Customer Review: Solid Mouse as Expected, Prefer this over the G9
Summary: 5 Stars

In comparison to the G9:
I was using a Logitech MX510 prior to this mouse. The MX510 was over 3 years old and started having issues with the sensor and since I liked that style this seemed like a natural match. I ordered the G5 alongside the G9 to compare and contrast the top contenders. Overall the only real difference in usage are the scroll wheel on the G9 and the types of grips offered. I personally preferred the way the wheel moved on the G9 but clicking it was weird to me and the G5 offered a nice familiar feel so I preferred it. The grip on the G9 is really different as well as it bulges in the palm area, I personally am a fan of how the G5 fits. Overall I recommend the buyer try both for at least a few days and pick the one that suits their grip the best.

Impressions of this mouse:
I personally have not found much use for the adjustable sensitivity, I mostly do FPS games and I might practice with it a little more in the future. The finish of the mouse also surprised me, compared to other Logitech products including my former MX510 and the Wide body G9 grip the G5 used a rough hard plastic versus a rubber coat. This took some time getting used to, but overall this seems to be better than the rubber grip as it probably won't wear down as easily and won't be as susceptible to sweat and oil to allow for a constant firm grip.

Overall it is a solid mouse, the laser sensor and buttons are great along with real nice mousefeet which should give a nice smooth feel for a long time to come. Pair it with a proper mouse pad and prepare to dominate.

Customer Review: Great Mouse
Summary: 5 Stars

its Great!! dont look any were else, you can custumise how much the mouse weights, and how accurate it is

Customer Review: A terrific gaming mouse
Summary: 5 Stars

One reason I like the Logitech G5 Laser Mouse is because I have larger hands and it fits them well. People with smaller hands might not like it as much. I also appreciate being able to add heft with the weights.

Having two buttons on the left side is a definite plus for gaming. For web browsing, I have the buttons set to page forward and back, which is very convenient.

Some people may not like the blue crackle design, but it goes well with my computer system. The matte finish also provides grip when my hand gets sweaty. Overall, I think it's a cool looking mouse.

I can't say that the G5 has made me better at first-person shooters, but it has made playing them a more enjoyable experience.

If you're left-handed or want a wireless mouse, the G5 is not for you. Otherwise, if you're serious gamer or someone who wants a mouse with many programming options, the G5 is worth considering.

Customer Review: The Cord is a Major Flaw!!!
Summary: 1 Stars

Check out some of the other one or two star reviews on this mouse. They mention a cord issue. There is a general theme to all of these complaints including mine... The cord is flawed. The cord is covered in a stiff braided fabric type material. It looks nice. It makes the cord look sturdy and strong when you first buy this mouse. The reality is that the fancy braiding ends up kinking and tightening up on the cord. It ends up fraying and then eventually the cord shorts out. It just happened on my mouse after 6 months. I have a laptop and I travel with it quite often. This cord cannot stand up to being moved or folded up for travel for any length of time. I imagine if you park this thing on your desktop, it would last longer. Unfortunately considering how much this thing costs, there is no excuse for this type of failure. Logitech could care less about this flaw, so once it fails you're on you're own. Buyer beware!

Customer Review: EXPENSIVE GARBAGE DO NOT BUY NO SUPPORT
Summary: 1 Stars

This mouse is just TRASH. No support from AMAZON or Logitech for problems that will eventually come up.

For the money you would expect a product that can last longer than a few months.

Save your money for another corded mouse.

I'm happy with logitech for their wireless products so gave this a shot but the fancy braided cord came loose on day 31 after purchase.

Now the cord is kinked and frayed and it is a major annoyance making the mouse pretty much useless.

Logitech email support is down, you can call them and get put on hold for an hour on your own dime.

I expect better customer support for such an expensive product.

My last logitech purchase.
