Customer Review: Elevated my gaming experience...
Summary: 5 Stars

I always like to play racing games and recently purchased a PS3. Wanting to wait for the full version of GT5 so I purchased GRID. Despite that I enjoyed this game with the Sixaxis controller, I wanted to try playing the game with the Logitech G25 as I found this on sale for $200 at the local Fry's.

The game recognized the G25 without any issue. With the default setting, it doesn't feel natural. The force is actually too strong. After trying to learn to adjust to the G25, my time was still better with the Sixaxis controller than the wheel. Disappointed as I was, I considered returning the wheel to the store. Luckily, I found an option menu in the game that allows modifying several settings to suit the user. After playing with the settings for several races, the wheel feels much more natural. And my time around the tracks is significantly better.

In 2 days, I have won many events/trophies in the game. Now that the controller is adjusted to my liking, the experience during play cannot be matched by using the standard controller. The steering wheel set is very well made. I have not tried the other steering wheel systems, but I highly recommend this. It will elevate your racing game experience to a new level just as it did for me. I cannot wait for the full version of GT5.

Customer Review: Picking some nits...
Summary: 4 Stars

First, this is the best of 4 different wheel and pedal sets I have used over the last 10 years.

The steering resolution is fine enough to drive smoothly and quickly and the force feedback is also very smooth, providing a much better "feel" for the road. The brake pedal is finally firm enough to give a more realistic brake feel of pressure rather than movement of the pedal. In the past, I always felt that the brakes just weren't there.

The shifter is positive in position but with the short lever there is no gate space between gears. I took off the knob, machined a 4.5 inch extension and now have a much better feel for which gear I have selected. The extra throw works well once the console is moved to an attachment mounted on my chair to get the shift lever into the correct position.

I haven't been able to get the sequential switch to move out of the pattern position, but then I don't really care about that anyway.

I would have preferred to have the cables to plug in at the pedal set and the console rather than at the wheel base because this would allow easier movement of the pieces when I pack up the gear for the night.

All in all, well worth the price.

Customer Review: Excellent wheel for PS3
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a fantastic product. I've never owned a wheel before, but wow the force feedback adds so much to the experience. The leather is nice to the touch and feels similar to an STI wheel except smaller. The best part is the paddle shifters which I prefer over the gearbox or sequential shifter. Very easy to use unless you spin out in which case you might hit the wrong one.

There are some caveats. First, it wasn't explicitly made for the PS3, so you'll have to figure out which buttons do what. However, it's obvious the designers anticipated PS2 or PS3 use so there are some familiar control sets. I didn't explore much, but didn't find the button to shift the driver perspective. I prefer the default one so no big deal. Second, the clutch doesn't seem to really do anything. You can just shift without it so why bother using it. No pesky synchros here! Third, the pedals are a little too close as I'll sometimes hit the clutch and the brake when slowing.. Fourth, be careful when a race starts as the wheel's rest position isn't always straight.

As for additional hardware, you may need a USB extension cable as the one supplied only goes 5 feet or so. Same for the AC.

Customer Review: high quality racing wheell
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this one specifically for use with my Playstation 3 where it works perfectly. I expected some trouble with the installation, but all I had to do is plug it in and it worked. :)

The key thing about this racing wheel over other is really it's quality. Especially the foot pedals are built really strong and rock solid. The wheel itself is also built very nicely and has a good solid feel. The force feedback not only adds a nice effect it actually works so well that is helps you control the car better as you feel the force you would get through a real steering.

The extra unit for the stick shift is a nice add-on, but it's actually the least impressive part of the whole set. The 6 speed gated mode doesn't feel anywhere close to a real stick shift. It works OK as a sequential shifter and it's nice to have all the extra buttons for various functions and for navigating through the game menu. When I drive manual I use the paddles anyway. If you are a die hard manual stick shift fan you can do it, just don't expect too much.

Overall I'm very happy with this wheel. It is the best one I had and it works flawless for well over a year now.

Customer Review: Great racing wheel for the money!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this wheel for myself for Christmas and I absolutely love it!

It's built with stainless steel and leather and it feels really sturdy. I was surprised at the weight of it when I got it from the UPS driver.

I use it for open wheel racing, so I use the paddle shifters way more than I do the sequential or gated shifter. They work flawlessly. And I'm sure I've shifted thousands of times already and they still feel like new.

I have used the gated shifter a little, but I haven't configured the wheel to work with heel-toe downshifts, so I can't give an opinion on how well that aspect works. I'm using it to play rFactor.

And the clutch, brake and gas pedal all have an appropriate "weight" to them, meaning the pressure you have to apply to the gas pedal is different than the pressure applied to the brake and clutch. That's a really nice touch!

The force feedback is excellent as well. When a car is sliding through a corner or driving over the curbing, you really feel through the wheel that that is what's happening.

All-in-all, I'd say it's a great wheel for the money!
